  • I’ve refused to criticise the team and coach up until now

It’s been a couple of years in the wilderness for me with the chooks.
ive read what you guys have written…,,,,there have been some wonderful contributions in my opinion. …..not that I am an expert on people’s observations and literary contributions……..more just respect for informed opinions.

    Tonight was particularly awful.

The roosters have a better team on appear than the Riff
the chooks haven’t adapted to the attack focussed game of 2022 and look like a fringe top 8 team

    What will Nick do?

Games aren't played on paper, and even so, if you're fair dinkum and go through player-for-player, it'd be a pretty even split.

Bizarre being so upset about losing to a team that has won like what 45 of the last 50 games, or some absurd statistic. They're the most dominant team in the last 30-odd years of the game, and you might want to give some credit where it's due.

The chooks aren't that far off the pace. We're not at their level yet, but the reality is that literally no-one is. Gotta clean a few things up, and then go with them for the 80 come September, if and when we run into them.

Of all the performances we've had since 2019, this definitely wasn't one of the ones I was embarrassed by.

I disagree that we have a better list. I fear the same next year as all our Forwards are young with limited experience (SST gone) & JWH will be bench player, finishing up after next season.
They beat us at Hooker, in the Halves, in the Forwards,in the outside backs, so not sure how our list is better. Origin selection will show that this year when they get 7/8 players picked & we have 3

We have Suaalii, Momo, Walker, Ebutch, Baker, Watson, May, Hutch in that team and we are better than the premiers who have had virtually the same team for two years. Most of those guys have had a handful of games.

Maybe take a couple more years off.

Disagree with it being particularly awful, we competed well for large parts of the game we just aren't at that level at the moment and got out played by a side who's been playing at that level for a long time now.

We've been so privileged for so long we've forgotten what awful actually means. Plenty to like from tonight, equally plenty of work to do.

In key positions players are past their best. Still great players but are that touch older and slower in most aspects of the game. JWH, SST, and Keary have played their best footy. Teddy is a yard slower and isnt the threat he once was...still is a great player obviously. Gus just simply has to have issues. He has been poor. We dont have a 9. Even with Verrills he is just a very steady 9 who himself asks very few questions of the opposition. Collins isnt the same afyer his ACL...give him time. We have zero speed. Just my opinion but we have ao many holes in our team. Penrith are in their peak and on the way up still, only injuries will stop them going back to back

We are well off the pace. Just making up the numbers this year.

Not that the performance was particularly bad but the only real positive from tonight was the debut of Terrell May who showed flashes of the sort of brilliance we're after in the forwards. He's a keeper for sure. EButch lacked match fitness and showed nowhere near the potential some claim for him. Victor was sorely missed however that outcome was never in doubt

                  It's not all bad.

We are probably 2nd best currently? If not pretty damn close.

The Panthers are on another level now. Someone has to play them on GF day.

Hang in there. We have plenty to work with.

We went with them for a fair chunk of the game, but not the 80. I think we are still improving, not regressing.

Panthers were short priced favourites to win tonight and won accordingly. There's still 13 more rounds and a state of origin series to go....a lot can happen with injuries and form for all the teams. There's always a twist in the NRL....dont right us off!

While i'm super competitive and hate to not be the best (or for the Roosters to be the best), sometimes you have to admit when you aren't and use it for motivation. Tonight we were well up for it for portions of the game and the moment we weren't, they punished us and put 30 points on us.

Its too hard to say we are making up numbers at the moment given there's SOO and a lot of footy to go, however unless they get a series of injuries, that Penriff team are the benchmark and the team to beat. Its frustrating but thats the facts. We played well in patches, poor in others.

True but tonight a few of Watsons passes reminded us exactly what awful is.
