Baker has a good motor and is versatile. He’s a diesel and can play longer minutes than all the others such as Suluka-Fifita, Tapuha and May. He also has subtle ball playing skills and good footwork allowing him to play in the middle and on an edge. That’s why Robbo picks him over the others.

Fletcher Baker was playing golf a group ahead of me the other day. He was playing with a mate and I was by myself. He asked if I would like to play through them but I was happy to play two or three balls and get some practice in and it was busy in front of them so I declined. as a result by the time I got to every tee they were still waiting to tee off so got to chat with him every hole. He was a really decent respectful nice young man. Really impressed with his manners and humility.

I know that has naught to do with his playing ability but it is nice to know all the same. I actually like what he brings to the side he is a big unit who is mobile and has surprisingly good passing game and foot work. I would just like to see him keep the intensity of hit ups the same. He has some really strong carries in him but at times he drops that intensity.

He can offload too. There is a reason that he’s in the side every week despite plenty of healthy completion from other good young props.

Nothing official from the club but apparently Robinson rates him highly and has said he’s not far away from first grade so you’d have to think they’ve locked him onto some sort of deal that means he can play this year.

100% agree. His 1st NRL carry was lovely...the kids got ticker and we can use a bit of power up front.

Impressive he went back and played NSW Cup today for Bears. Know he only played 5 or so mins last night but would been easy just give him day off. From stats looks like he played first 30 mins straight and then last 20.

Good on him. I assume with Collins selected for QLD most probably May will get big minutes next week and Robbo wanted some game time in his legs after limited minutes against the Riff and sweet f a against the Sharks he needed a run if he is expected to play decent minutes on Sunday
