  • Disjointed NRL draw

I have come to realize that the NRL draw is highly frustrating as a member who goes to most games at the SCG.

As an example, between the 18th March (Round 2 v Manly ) and the 21st May (Round 11 v Panthers) we have only played one game at the SCG. That's 2 months with only one "proper" home.

It does frustrate me how we take home games around the country and seem to always play our home game during magic round

The positive is we play a lot of home games towards the end of the season, I just wish they were a bit more evening spaced.

Not sure what everyone thinks ?

Hopefully next year when we start playing out of our/Souths home ground, we start getting a consistent draw.

Our home ground. Uncle Nick will make sure of it.

I hope so, but unless Nick can get the government to upgrade Homebush, sounds like Souths “get out” clause is valid.

Yeah I especially find magic round BS. Every year its been our "home" game. You'd think it would be every 2nd year. In fact some how the droncos have an "away" game again this year during magic round. They did so last season as well.

I thought I read a week or so ago that you get paid $250k to take a home game away for magic round. Are we that strapped for cash? I wouldn’t have thought so but that’s what I read.

i think Uncle Nick will be pressuring the scg trust more than the government

I hate tragic round. I don’t see the benefit to anyone except Brisbane overall. The city wins. That’s about the only magic to come from it. It’s good for their economy through tourism. The donkeys of course effectively add another home game to their already gifted Thursday and Friday night schedule.

I fear for players in later matches when the ground is torn up.

How will that go? Nick tells the SCG Trust that he wants the ground all to ourselves, even though we take our own games to Brisbane, Mackay, Gosford etc etc..

A quick check of teams allocated home games in so called magic round over the last 4 years. Covid year obviously excluded.

                    Titans - 3

                    Wests - 3

                    Manly - 3

                    Canterbury - 3

                    New Zealand - 3

                    Melbourne - 3

                    Roosters - 3

                    Cronulla - 2

                    Vermin - 1

                    Penrith - 0

                    Broncos - 0

                    Newcastle - 0

                    St. George - 0

                    Parramatta - 0

                    Canberra - 0

                    Cowboys - 0

Time to even it up I would say over the next 3 years.

That's unbelievable that Brisbane has not had one home game on Magic Round when it's played at their home stadium. Not sure why no one has arced up about that before. It should count as a Brisbane home game every year.

Are these teams compensated financially for having their home games in Brisbane? Do clubs have a preference in the matter? Has our club ever complained about these fixtures?

I don’t know much about the process, but I also haven’t heard any club or players complain about these games being in Brisbane.

more likely the fans are the only ones who seem outraged, but I’m sure qld fans of those teams love the chance of seeing their team more than once a year.
