Dolphins want to V Roosters as 1st game of 2023

I just heard the dolphins ceo on Fox Sports say in memory of Arthur Beetson that they want to play the Roosters as the 1st match of the 2023 season.

He said that because Artie used to play for the dolphins he would always say he'd love to one day see the roosters v dolphins.

Would be better than the rubbish round 1 games we've been getting, not sure why they ever went away from the roosters v rabbits tradition.

Hopefully it's at the new Allianz!

They are the two worst times of the year to play Souths!
Round 1 neither team are ready to go hard at it and have cobwebs…. East’s are never ready in rd 1….
Rd 25 or 26 (last round)both teams are often locked into the finals already and rest players or put the breaks on after half time.
Best time is around Rd 6- 10 and rd 20-23.

Round 1 Vs Dolphins at the new SFS... I wouldn't be opposed to that.

Screw playing them on their turf, there will be too much "good will" and desire to see them win in Round 1.

Screw playing them on their turf, there will be too much "good will" and desire to see them win in Round 1.

Can't see anything but a home game for them in round 1, the media build up will be too big for the NRL to ignore.
It would be nice to play them in round 1, maybe for Artie cup each year.

I think the NRL will have them playing Brisbane in the first game, local game on Sunday afternoon and guaranteed a sell out and ratings winner.

If we play them, then we play them at "our" new stadium in honour of Artie and what better way to do a ribbon cutting/recognition event with the new Arthur Beetson stand than play the Dolphins in round #1, 2023 ?
