I like that he went to the UK early enough to hone his craft, excel and reach the top over there, then come back to Aus into first grade. I think a lot of players would benefit from the experience of spending time abroad away from the spotlight that is the NRL.

It’s probably not fashionable to go somewhere cold that doesn’t pay the same but the experience, especially when young and only for a short time, would far outweigh the financial rewards. Especially players who aren’t just mercenaries and understand the history of the game and it’s birthplace.

His halves partner Luke Brooks is someone who comes to mind who might’ve benefited from the different style of game in the UK. Alas, he might have 3 houses now and a pokie addiction

Jackson definitely has it in him to become one of the top halves in the game.
He’s going ok atm. Could have been a fluke but he played a blinder yesterday and if that’s what he was like in England then I can see what all the fuss was about.

I hope his form continues for him and the Tagpies. God knows they need it to!

            FMD.

Good luck to the guy and I wish him no ill fortune, but there are countless halves in the comp i'd pick over him.

Munster, Cleary, Johnson, Cherry Evans, Moses, Hughes, Weighton, Hynes, Reynolds, Hunt are all superior. I think i'd even prefer Watson in the halves.

Forget the guys last name is Hastings already. You're just being an irrational romantic.

If his name was Jackson Jones he'd be even less fondly remembered than Ben Jones is.

If he was a freak he wouldn't have stuffed up the two other chances they got to kick the go-ahead points. You all seem to be forgetting the 7 tackle set he gave away when rolling in the grubber instead of taking the shot at field goal. Melbourne or Penrith, even us would have made him pay. He was a whisker away from being a total dud

Moses did the same if I remember correctly.

                    That's what I was thinking.
the narrative could have been a whole lot different.
                    He butchered 2 easier chances.
The finger wave to the coaches box after he kicker for Nofauluma's try tells me the ego is still bubbling away under the surface

Mate, you're the one labelling Hastings a freak when he's clearly not. He nailed a difficult field goal at the end of the game, cudos too him for that. I was simply pointing out that he fluffed his lines earlier in the game and made a difficult situation so much harder for him and his team

As good as Jacko was on Monday arvo which was very pleasing to watch, I think Parra played shit and were off their game. Don't get me wrong, Tigers played surprisingly well but it was unexpected to see Parra play below average especially at home in front of a big crowd.

Question now moving forward will be can the Tigers back it up and play consistently with Jacko steering the ship ? or was this just an anomaly/fluke ?

                              Rather get Burton instead.

He is a much improved player from where he has come from and it’s freakish to see him now than where he was. He’s been a dominant player in the SL for some time now and he’s proving his worth in the tougher NRL. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a lover but have respect for what he’s done and his ability to keep improving. His game the other night was more than just a crazy field goal. He was more than just the one point difference in that game. I’m sure he’s got a lot more to show yet and I just hope it’s not against us.
