Next I'll be reading that someone wants the Guppies reject, crim in waiting Albert Kelly, to join the Roosters as a replacement for the drunkard bogan TC.

As for Jacob Miller, if he's that good, then why isn't he playing alongside Marshall in the Tiges halves, rather than Moltzen? Especially given the fullback problems Tiges currently have. Moltzen could slot back to FB easily if Sheens thought Miller could do a good job in the halves.

It would appear that Sheens is still grooming Miller for first-grade. He is quite highly rated out there....

That's a good question NC. Imo Sheens is a fool not to shift Moltzen to fullback and bring Miller in at halfback. Imo Miller would be great to have back as our halfback or see how he goes at hooker. Don't forget he is only 19 and as far as i know is off contract at the end of this year.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

        Here's looking at you, kid.

Didn't the Tiges offer to pay Miller much more than the Roosters were? And I doubt his price will decrease.

But it would be just like the Roosters to bring Miller back on more than Manly are paying DCE. He was probably earning that before he left!

Miller would be on more at the Tigers than Cherry-Evans is on at Manly....

But both players were represented by their managers and both agreed to the contract that they signed...

I don't blame DCE or his manager for signing the deal they did - DCE was looking for an opportunity and it seems no one else was interesting in taking a gamble on the kid. And you can only take what someone is willing to pay. To me his having limited options at the time and Miller having plenty says more about the lack of vision of a lot of recruitment blokes than it does anything else.

Manly took a punt and won short term as they got DCE at bargain price. But they need to realise that continuing to pay the kid peanuts means he won't be at their club long term.

In business if Cherry-Evans signed a contract and then exceeded all expectations he would be rewarded financially.

In football, with a salary cap, the money has to come from someone else..

Perhaps they could say to a couple of other members of the squad "We thought you would have developed a bit quicker and would have played more first-grade by now, so we are going to take back $50k of the money we promised you"....???

To be honest PTB, I'd be struggling to find members of the Manly squad who don't pull their weight and don't deserve what they're being paid. Whilst I don't like them as a club I do admire how they can play as a unit and for each other and don't allow outside factors to influence their performances.

Now if it were our squad, I'd be able to find plenty of suspects .... .

He has signed a contract so why is whinging now? He was happy to sign it at the time. If his manager was not cluey enough to have clauses inserted that rewards him financially if he makes representative teams or a certain amount of first grade games in his first year, well, that is their problem.

What happens when he does sign a good contract and plays lousy. Can the club ask for some money back when he is out of form. Please.

This is why the game is starting to give people the sh#ts. A contract ain't a contract anymore. Get on with life DCE and make sure you sign a decent contract next time you sook.

Sack, my understanding is he was desperate to get a contract at the time, when there wasn't much interest.
Manly were the winners in signing him to a longer time frame.
If they don't at least try to appease him in some way with a top up they will risk losing him at the first available chance.

Exactly Chook 56, what some supporters need to realise that for every young player who has huge dollars thrown at them before the deserve it, there are 10 young players who struggle to be offered a contract worth signing. And it's OK to try and negotiate upgrades etc but if the only contract offered doesn't include them, does anyone expect the kid not to sign if he has no other alternative?

But in my experience it's those 10 blokes who start at the bottom who are more likely to succeed long term because they have no option but to prove themselves if they want the size of contract that others of their age and (in)experience already have.

I pose a question, how many players at the Roosters would not fulfil a performance based contract?

An easier question would be; how many players would?
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

                              That's disastrously sad, really.
