  • Our rd1 results over the last 10 seasons

Before you all start writing off the season after the first round, I thought I would have a look at our round 1 results over the past 10 seasons.

Interestingly we have lost 7/10 round 1 clashes.
3/7 of those losses have resulted in premierships!!

It's clear to see Robbo times his run for the back end of the season.
You don't win comps in round 1.

Leave the early season celebrations to the knights, dragons and tigers. We all know where they'll be come finals time.

I'm sure the years we won the comp and lost in Rd 1 many on this site bagged our team and wrote off the season. Try to look at the positives, it's a bloody long season.
    2022 - loss to knights. Finish..........Win comp!
    2021 - won 46 - 4 against manly. Finished 5th
    2020 - loss 14-20 to Penrith. Finished 4th.
    2019 - loss 16 - 26 to bunnies. Premiers
    2018 - loss 10 - 8 to tigers. Premiers
    2017 - won 32 - 18 against Gold coast. Finished 2nd
    2016 - loss 42 - 10 to bunnies. Finished 15th
    2015 - won 28 - 4 against cows. Minor premiers
    2014 - loss 28 - 4 to bunnies. Minor premiers
    2013 - loss 28 - 10 to bunnies. Premiers

It’s only round 1 and all on the super coaches on this forum are wielding the axe, it’s hilarious some people are having a complete meltdown, yesterday was super frustrating I found myself turning the game off and on again, we had a superb try that was farcically denied only to concede a lucky bounce try moments later, our biggest enemy is ourselves it always has been we just can’t hold the pill how many times we received a penalty or 6 again only to drop it very first play?

This was our trial form. Let’s hope we can keep the errors to a minimum next week.

100% agree. Robbo said in the press conference words to the effect that he knew we weren't right in the lead up to the game. In the end we were beaten by a couple of scratchy against the run of play tries and a piece of brilliance from Bradman Best.

we seem to be playing our game plan from 2018 still. 4 direct hit ups, settle the ball kick for the corners and set a defensive line. we don't attack our bombs putting pressure of their catcher. 2poo having the second run. nearly every set. nothing electric on the field , just going thru the motions like a training drill. a tad bit boring to watch yesterday

I think the issue for many fans including myself is that yesterday was a frustrating loss from a game that we had expected to win comfortably.

Great that its a long season. Round 26 form counts for so much more than round 1. TIT he will have the boys ready for when it matters most

but the comparison's worth making. robbo and bellamy are both great coaches but they have different approaches. seems like bellamy requires top performance at all times while robbo tries to pace the team. probably has as much to do with their different personalities as about what the best approach is but robbo goes alright.

It's the manner of the loss that has me a bit worried. And if you combine it with the last few rounds last year, the trials this year and round 1, there's a pretty worrying trend in relation to our defence. Turnstiles atm.

Fair point mate however the start of 2018 was exactly the same. We bought Cronk and Teddy but our attack was woeful. It took 8 or so weeks for it to even start clicking a little bit.
