  • Players should be dropped after this

Yes it's the first round, many combinations are clearly rusty with players returning from long lay offs, and I'm sure we are being conditioned for the marathon rather than the sprint... But this is one of the most embarrassing performances in the Robinson era. Especially given we couldn't use injuries as an excuse like last year.

JWH looks to be officially cooked, and SST not far behind.

I hope Crichton has not signed his contract extension.

Watson is not a starting hooker and never should be.

Billy Smith, at least defensively, is a reserve grader; this would have been exposed years ago were it not for the injuries.

The knights defense was licking their lips every time Nat Butcher gently trundled it up.

Collins must have the lowest IQ in the NRL.

Teddy looks tired already. Stem cells obviously didn't address that.

I could go on. Yes we will get better (we hope), but it is rather frightening that this was our close to full strength squad.

Ok I thought the Manu take from Team Evil was bad, but “JWH is officially cooked” is now comfortably the worst take so far of the arvo.

We had a bad game, let’s calm down in the hate. Tho some of these takes are crap. The knights defence were phenomenal, they were up so quickly that players like crichton could never have had a chance at making a difference. Don’t know what ur on about with jwh, still obviously the soul of the front row.

Based on what the Roosters served up today and what the pamfers served up yesterday, the Roosters would have lost by plenty. Worrying signs when you take into account the second trial game. The Roosters looked like they were running on sand.

Wouldn’t he say is cooked but I hope he hasn’t lost anything significant in regards to mobility and speed due to his age.. he seemed very slow out there on a couple of occasions but I guess some part of that can go down to how bad our service was as well.. wasn’t good seeing jazza get put on his ass by a lightweight in freakin Mann though.

To clarify, I'm not saying these 6 players should be dropped if that were the case the title would read: "the following 6 players should be dropped".

This was just some observations as to how bad that performance was. I think Smith deserves a spell in reserves after that.

I'd like to see Marschke get another go, at least for his defense. Let Watson provide some spark from the bench.

My reaction would be to drop the entire starting 17 because man for man, there was no one on the Roosters side that outplayed their opposite number.

The issue of the main players not partaking in the trials match showed a clear sign of rust, poor match fitness and missing chemistry/combination today. This is going to take a few weeks to get back to a decent playing standard.

No spark in attack, no speed, no one jumping out and taking the line on, forwards went backwards, poor ball handling and poor discipline.

We will struggle against Manly and Souths.

I never said he had a bad game, nothing against Manu, he is doing the best for himself, I am having a go at the club for paying too much for a centre.

When hasn’t JWH started a season slowly? I’d be more concerned if he came out firing.

He’s coming off his best season ever, do you really think in the 3 months he had off his body has just deteriorated 5 more years?

Lol....these heat of the moment emotional knee jerk takes on the game very regularly come back to bite the OP.

Ray Stehr is famous for them. Posters like him usually get 10-15% of what they post right, and what they get right is by chance/luck rather than any analysis.

                              My (reasoned take)

                              1. Robbo already made public that we are not fit and are well behind where we need to be. The squad will be primed to peak in the final half of the year. We will lose games in the interim - thats life, cant win them all. Speak more to how spolit we are as a fan base tbh

                              2. JWH is certainly not cooked, but he is aging. This comes as a surprise to no one. His performance has peaked, however he will still provide immense value to the team and there is no one else in the NRL to hold a candle to him in the front row (expect possibly Haas)

                              3. Teddy is the classiest player in the game, and next to Fatrell and Turbo has the potential to be most dangerous and win games on his own back. Anyone who is writing him off was asleep last year or taking the piss

                              4. Don't get overexcited by highlights reels - Walker has a lot of work to do and may take a couple of years to bloom fully. Patience and fairness is needed.

                              5. Keary is only just back from long term injury. I have zero concerns about him.

                              6. Fans should settle the fk down with knee jerk panic reactions if they are having them.
