On a more serious note, I had high hopes that Ben Duckworth would kick on at Easts, in much the same way as Fitzy did a few years later. John Simon was another Steeler that had loads of potential but couldn't deliver in the red, white and blue. Notable mentions for Kandy Tamer, Brad Tessman, Les Cleal, Cam Cherry, Brian Battese and Billy Dart. I fear I am showing my age with some of those names!
Sam Obst, Trent Clayton and Mick Crocker all came down at the same time from Redcliffe with massive wraps

Obst was tiny but never really given a full go given we had Wing Freddy, Green, Holbrook then Finch at the time, had a great career in Super League however

Canberra U20's champion absolute dud at the Chooks.

What about Bam Bam Tuivasa? Is killing it in UFC

Slamming Sammy Obst was a crowd favourite - at least in one game when he dumped Jason Ryles on his head and Ryles got up a bit wonky and played the ball the wrong way conceding a penalty. Hailed during the game as well

The laughter and comments from the crowd - hey Ryles what does it feel like being tackled by the ball ball - Obst was only a little fellow 5ft 6 or so and 11 or so stone wringing wet

Crowd also yelling out leave our ball ball alone whenever the Dragons players tried to rough him up.

O’Sullivan, played one game for us and that was it. I thought he looked alright in that game.

Soward was a star in the Chooks Jersey Flegg team that were undefeated Premiers in 2004 kicking the winning field goal in golden point.
He kicked two that day. The winning one was from half way.

Yeah he's a good example... won a GF with us and also got lotsa accolades when he paired with Hayne in 2009? Half of the year or something. I thought he'd become a regular starter somewhere at very least.

Yeah don't want it to sound like a low blow given his current state but he was ALWAYS identified as being our strongest player in terms of raw strength. Never quite learned how to use it in the NRL...

3 players who didn't really deliver at our club ( or maybe weren't given enough time to develop or crack a permanent first grade spot ) then went on to bigger and better things at other clubs.

                    Nathan Blacklock
                    Ricky Walford
                    Adam MacDougall

Thought he was one of the best forwards I had ever seen..in trials ..I cant remember how many games he played in comp must of only been a couple but he had it all

Had a bigger head than heart..rubbed up the club by initially not wanting to play for newton in the reserve grade grand final..ended up playing in it reluctantly like a shot duck ..didnt give a shit...club let him go after that

                            Setaimata Sa.

Thought he had all the talent in the world.
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

I remember a time when Phil Clarke was the only guy in the backline capable of making a break. He had speed and skill - just didn't get any media attention.

What he may have lacked on the field, he made up for the classroom. He took a lazy, shiftless D grade average student and had me top my year at school in science in year 9. That led to my career in the practical science field.
