i really dont understand the pearce hate on this forum.

the guy was a far above average player ...and he was , i know the naysayers shout it down but he was pretty consistently named a top 5 half in the game . he wasn't ! cronk , thurston or such but not everyone can be.

his effort and love of the club is undoubted , nobody bar cords, jake went harder.

was he poor at end of set ? yep , to define a guys career based on weak aspect of his game is pretty harsh . he ticked a lot of boxes, running game, long kick , defence , pass ....

there are hundreds of players who have been worse then him wear a roosters jersey ...2010 gf, 13 premier, 14 , 15 minor prems ...17 prelim , so how can a team with a terrible horrid half achieve this ...

i want to know why the guy garners the hate he does.

why dont we hate on copley, hastings, cusack, byrne, o sullican , nikorima, the same ?

There's no need to hate any of them.
Pearcey was a top player, he played & won a GF, he played & won a SOO series & he got paid pretty well in his career. People who hate players have something wrong with themselves, how can you hate someone you dont know? its ridiculous.

I like Pearcey, always have. It’s easy to see why he has detractors though. None of those guys have listed have been on the big $$$, been our captain, ever had to be more than a rookie or fringe player and they haven’t really done anything wrong.

Because Pearce was all of those things he’s held to a higher standard, which he often let down

Napa. What a clown. How disrespectful to his new club and team mates.

Big shot trying to create an early impression over there as an enforcer.
ESL could well be his last roll of the dice.

If he's got any grey matter left he'd play out the season over there in a controlled manner and be at his best to hopefully secure an NRL contract for a needy club like the Dolphins or GC.

I suspect it's because those players were on about 1/5th of the money Pearce was

because those blokes didn’t try to disrespect their old club once they left by banging their chest and kissing their new clubs emblem on their jerseys while playing against their old club.

That annoyed me as well, but to be fair we didn’t handle it the best either so I can see how he felt embracing Newcastle as the club who put faith back into him.

No matter how nicely you want to put it, we shafted him off for a better player who don’t get me wrong got us history in return.

When you can't make the grade at the Bulldogs, and you end up in France, there is no more NRL I'd reckon.

I had no issue with him doing that. To my mind though he is the single most overrated player ever to lace on a boot.
