Is the NRLW part of or an addition to to broadcast deals?
I have no problem with it myself and a 3 game series is the way to go.
I imagine the NRL's ultimate goal is for all NRL clubs to have a Women's side plus pathway sides - Development squads (12 to 14's ) / Junior Reps - Under 16's, 18's,20's and Reserve grade which of course will require ongoing investment from both NRL clubs and the NRL.
Some of the posters remarks above are akin to 19th century thinking - it's the 21st century folkLast edited by King Salvo; 11-19-2021, 09:58 PM.

How about this for a hypothetical?
Say us boys here on the chookpen forum decide to start our own Aussie Men’s netball team. We go for about 6-12 months but still nowhere near the girls in terms of interest, skills, revenue generated etc etc. We rock up to the Netballing federation and demand we get the same pay as the girls.
How do you think that would go down? Do you think the women’s team would be supportive? Do you think it’s fair that we get the same as them? I certainly don’t think so.Exonerate the West Memphis Three - www.wm3.org

Not a single woman will take up the sport because women Origin players get paid $30k a game. But if all that money was instead spent on grass roots development of the women's game, they would indeed get more women playing. So not only is it pathetic PC posturing, it's a dumb way to spend the money.

I think if you're looking at budget allocation for the women's game currently there's so many better places that money could be invested.
Increasing the number of teams in the NRLW, increasing the length of the season and investing in elite junior pathways for young women would be money much better spent.
If you want to give away money how about paying all the women who had their season cancelled this year?

It will be like the WBBL the players will improve significantly as they become more and more professional - the object is to finance them including the juniors and pathwaysLast edited by King Salvo; 11-24-2021, 03:47 PM.

My old Junior Club East Campbelltown Eagles (biggest junior club in the Macarthur Wests Tigers Juniors) with close to 1000 juniors is very fortunate to have a stack of sponsors and folk on the ground doing a stack of unpaid work during the week and on match days - without them they would really struggle.
The Mighty Eagles are back in the revamped Macarthur Group 6 Conference comp and will field teams in Under 18's- men and women sides/3rd Grade/Second Division/Reserve Grade/1st Grade and a Women's Open Comp team - under 6's to under 16's including under 12/14/16's girls sides will play in the Campbelltown-Liverpool local comp.
East Campbelltown Eagles then Campbelltown Eagles were controversially kicked out of the Group 6 comp in 2013 (defending premiers ) for breaching the player points system which was introduced at the start of 2013 to so call even the comp up .
Since they changed their name to Campbelltown Eagles the players even though most were local juniors were not classed as this as Campbelltown Eagles was deemed a new club existing for only 2 years - if a local junior for that club 0 points are allocated to those players - if an import first season 5 points are allocated against that player / second 4 points/ 3rd 3 points and so on
I think 30 points was the max for each game per team - the Eagles players would attract 3 points each - 51 points for 17 players as all deemed 3rd year import players.

Why does anybody care regardless....it's not our money or our decision. Maybe the NRL see that paying more will improve the female game and generate more female interest which will ultimately flow through to the NRL and junior leagues?
I'm sure they can afford it and not at the expense of other investments...or maybe they see this as a sum gain investment for the long haul?
