Hastings and Flanno both got their dads to give it to Robbo as if he were coaching some farking GPS 1st XV and his dad had just put $$$ into their building fund, only to find out that his son's been picked for the 2nds. Robbo rightly has zero tolerance for this kinda shyte when it's coming from adults who think they're good enough to play in the NRL. Hastings and Flanno were both the club's #1 kickers at the time. Robbo didn't give a shyte! Better to pick somebody with a bit of courage rather than be tied to whingers just because they can kick conversions.

While not connected like Lam, I think Watson was similar. He was mentally tough and a good student of the game so Robbo gave him a run. He then scored a $500k contract so moved on. Now he's back - IMO Robbo loves this kinda mental toughness above all.
cause mental toughness and never quitting wins you games in the last 5 mins.

whereas walker was obvious after a game or 2 , that he had it.

nothing against lam, he just never looked a fg half, for mine.

      best of luck young fella.
Lam plays his best in the middle, 9 or 14. When playing there he has shown he is a decent 1st grader.

We now have Watson back who does this role better and to a lesser extent Hutch, AK and Nu Brown as backups.

I like Lam and was hoping he'd kick on at the Roosters however he is surplus to requirements.

Questioning his ability....... bullshyte... the over the top bagging of a young Roosters player on minimum wage was disgusting, he was playing as a REPLACEMENT for the best 5/8th in the comp, but the flogs here went in for the kill. They shamed themselves, not Lam.

i suggest you read my posts on lam, there was no going for the kill , i genuinely wanted him to succeed , but just couldn't see him making it as a fg half. stop being a dick .

I beg to differ. Walker has come into a side obliterated with injuries and showed plenty of ticker a d ability to nail a couple of games for us. To say he has achieved nothing is overlooking his strong work ethic and willingness to win at all costs.
I am not here to bag Lam but I cannot remember him saving us from defeat , he’s a solid back up player and I appreciated his effort throughout’21, but my reply to you is based on your statement that Walker has achieved nothing so far.

Understand what you mean but my opinion is based on a career and not a unsuccessful year that we had . And injuries or not for me it was unsuccessful. Unless we win the comp then it doesn't rate for me.
When Sam and I certainly hope he does , produces match winning games week in week out for at least a couple of years then I will deem him to be a success . But until then I will still have my doubts . As said before to many show promise and so few deliver. Hope to eat my words in the future .

Ricko is the only Junior of those lot so he is the only real success.

i think he sealed more games this year than Pearce did in his career at the chooks

How many years did it take Pearce to win us a game with a field goal? And how many did Walker do in his first year as an 18yo?

Yep he's another one of my examples of why Golden Boy Grant hasn't proven shyte.

Walker - comes on aged 18 and ins the game in the last 15 minutes during his first big game. Continues to do it on a regular basis, including an elimination final.

Grant - Comes on with Brandon holding his hand and showing hom the rooea with 15 to go, a lopsided penalty count and a 50-0 scoreline. [NBA Jam voice] 'PASSES TO GRANT... OOOOOH MYYYYY!!! RAZZLE DAZZLE!!! HE'S ON FIRE!!!' (When he does an okay run off the back of a generous pass & fails to score against some random deadbeat). They see him as the next Cam Smith but he's proven shyte all. Big example was in the prelim final when Smith got concussed... Grant went missing and they lost by a small margin. They needed a walker out there! A game changer.

IMO there's names and then there's players. Walker's 100% footy player... there's no gratuitous hype behind him. Without him we woulda lost 4-5 more games and finished what... 8th or so? Fans still woulda been happy with his form too. Fact it he stepped up big time though.

I have no doubt he can kick a field goal or throw and Harbour bridge intercept pass but my opinion as stated before is based on longevity., At the moment his defence is shit , That's to be expected but hopefully will get better ,.Your missing the point if you think I'm not a fan of his .A few games does not a career make
