Great find, Hawkeye. Loved every minute.

Fittler was in peak form that year - the step, the speed in decision making, the perfect passes - what a player. I'd forgotten how good Wing was for us that year too. Mullins, Hodges, Mini and Hegarty all had fantastic seasons too.

great way to start a Sunday. How good was Craig Wing? Some champions there Fittler, Mini, Fitzy, Hodges was good, Hegerty had a great year, Bonetti solid as a rock, Mozza, Ricko, Mullins was awesome. Great memories.

I always thought the Wing-Freddy halves combo was better than the Finch-Freddy one. I think we missed a trick there, not allowing that combo to play more. In hindsight we would've been better off keeping Wing at #7 and finding a replacement hooker after Bonetti finished up.

This brings back fond memories. I still have this on VHS but no longer have a VHS player.

It would be great if they re-released this on DVD as well as a highlights package form the years 2018 and 2019. Unsure why they have stopped doing this?

It was great seeing highlights from all the games, some of the tries I'd forgotten about. But I especially loved the newsreel highlights at the start capturing the celebrations ...now that brought back wonderful memories of that big night !

How good were Freddy, Wingy, Mini & especially Hodges. I forgot how good & grubby Hodges was, imagine Hodges & Latrell playing centres together for the Chooks.
My dad unfortunately past on Christmas Day 2001 & his birthday was the 9th of August. The Chooks never lost another game in 2002 from the 9th of August winning the comp. Im sure my dad had a word to God when he got up to heaven in 2001 & said "Cmon mate its time the Roosters won the comp its been 27 years".
Im sorry that my dad missed the 2002 win but to this day I believe he was their in spirit.

After watching the 2002 season highlights, I went back to where this team really started, in 2000,the semi against Newcastle, down 16 to 2 at halftime to comeback, win and make the gf,but it was Ryan Cross that stood out, such a good player ,but the worst of luck, plus loosing 3 gf in 5 years, the 1 we did win he was out injured for the season

I remember walking out after the round 21 match against Cronulla with my dad and we both said it looks another year without a premiership. (That was after the third loss in a row)
But I think that was the turn around and they hit a switch!
They started the rushing defence and hold… putting 30 plus on each team until the end of year almost, while conceding hardly any points each game!

Yea thanks for sharing. Mum and I watched it together and reminisced a lot. Not just about 02 but that whole early 2000's era.

I miss watching wing play for us. Definitely should have stayed at 7.
