If he plays a roving role he can play any backline position though- I think the days of backs just staying out wide waiting for the ball to be passed to them is on the way out- He was playing a roving role towards the end of the season in any case - Maybe a permanent roving role is a compromise going forward

With us signing Momirovski and Naiqama, it would seem as though our $$$ left for centres is running out. That said, I don't think it's fair to characterise Manu as having done a Latrell. I mean somebody offers you upwards of $1m... you gonna turn it down?

Latrell was so iconic that we offered him every last penny before considering anybody else's contract. He asked if he could sit on it and go elsewhere if he could get $1 more. We said 'haha no... you're good as gone then... we now need to show our other players some love before they walk'.

For me losing Manu would be more devastating than losing either RTS/Latrell he is part of the fabric of the club to the point the younger outside backs look up to him, the club needs to be very careful what they do regarding Manu they better be sure Keary/Suaalii/Smith are all going to still be here fit and available by the time 2024 rolls around before letting him leave.

800K may be a lot for a centre but for one that covers fullback and five-eight better than most others playing permanently in those positions it's a steal.

It's a tough decision for him or anyone else in that position. Good luck to him.

Earlier in the year, Cooper Cronk touched on how close Joey's relationship with Robbo was, even suggesting that Robbo was his 2nd father. At least with a relationship like that I would expect that Joey would give the Roosters the last crack at keeping him.

IMO anybody on our club would know that the limit is $1m for a guy who's won Dally M and is our current captain. Thus, anybody wanting $1m who hasn't done either isn't gonna get it at Bondi. BUT... is $100-200k extra worth it to be taking on his responsibility? Like any job... IMO the step up to that kinda level in terms of pay is rarely worth it. My boss always complains that I only get a little bit less but can palm off anything that involves painful discussions with big wigs to them.
