Hi Guys,
Old wallster who has finally decided to join the chookpen after missing the Wall so much.
Thought first up I would address some speculations I have heard on here.
I've been talking to B.T (abbreviated)from the Wall who Ive been talking quite a bit with since meeting him from that Roosters Forum. He knows quite a few players and management from different clubs. Always has been good with his info in the past too. Also he said to me to say hi to the Jman and patch. I'm not sure who they are on this forum.
Said he lost Patch's email.
Ok firstly,
Boyd Cordner - Boyd actually had extended his contract by 1 year late last year till the end of 2013. He's not keen to go back to Newcastle at all. You would probably see him at another sydney team before Newcastle and thats if we didnt want him which we really do.
SKD - Sean is actually fit and raring to go. He's fine to play this week. The coaching staff are holding him back as the injury is a health risk. Very hopeful of getting the all clear next week.
JWH - Is being chased very hard by Parra, Manly and the dogs. Parra throwing ridiculous money at him. Jared loves it at the chooks and has formed good bonds with most the boys in the team but money seems to be the key driver. Peter O sullivan is structuring the same type of phylosophy at the Roosters as he did at the storm. No big money at Front rowers especially 40-50 min players.
Jared has also been plagued by an injury that he has not been able to get over the last few yrs and I think the Roosters dont see the value. Nothing forsure right now but most probably he'll be gone.
SBW - Not sure if this is a Politis Strategy or Obsession. The money, boxing, durability, afiliations make this a bad buy if completed although gate revenue and sponsorships may be a key driver. Also the roosters have the ability to use Gyngel at Channel 9 to the best of their ability through Third party sponsorships. Dont believe the media that we are paying $800k. That could be the total earnings for him but not the contract agreement. Parra were very close to securing him although do not have the 3rd party sponsorships.
Maloney - Heard something interesting that he is being considered at fullback. Not sure about whether we are looking at another 5/8th. Read into it what how you like.
Bulldogs - Dont believe the crap in the media about Greenburgs contract extended because of a fear of him moving to NRL head quarters. Truth is big boardroom fights between him and Ray Dib and Arthur Coorey who were heavily trying to recruit SBW but Greenburg was the major obstacle. Greenburg actually threatoned to resign and Ive heard if they had a decent replacement that would of got rid of him. Has a huge ego I have been told. Also Hasler is trying to get rid of Tolman. Apparently he is on over $400k and Hasler does not see any value in him as he apparently gets dominated in tacles. Hasler wants JWH but will not pay the money JWH is after. This may still change though.
Trial matches: Firstly I need to give a wrap to the Yak for a pretty thorough and accurate summary on the trials. Well done.
I attended both matches and let me firstly say that Justin Carney against the dogs exhibited some of the worse handles I have seen. Bombed a try worse than the Dragons game, gave the dogs a try and was the cause of another repeat set. Got the hook in the tigers game as well and did not fare much better although I believe some here are a bit harsh on his defensive positioning in the tries conceded. They weren't as bad as what has been said.
Mortimer: Guys don't believe the hype. Mortimer did absolutely no different to the other 3 years of his career than meerly suport play and no errors. It wasn't good trial form. It was just no errors.
Also was told that Smith had Mortimer to play fullback and Moga to play centre in the first trial the Jets were to have against North Sydney. It got rained out. This has actually caused a bit of issues cause alot of the youngsters were to get a go. This is also why we are stuck with Carney on the wing. The injuries have caused smith to start with a more experienced player. i don't think he is satisfied of what he has seen from the younger guys like Henry and Tupou although personally I think both those guys went well in the 2 trials I saw.
Well thats the first post. I don't post much unless I have anything constructive to say.
I actually read more than post. Some on here actually have good info. While some right absolute crap.
Cheers
