Young Panther forward Spencer Leniu worth a look?

There is mail that Spencer Leniu is going to be forced out of the Panthers due to the salary cap.

This fellow has shown great potential while coming off the bench for the Panthers this year.

Does anyone else agree he could be a solid, cheap addition for us? Charlie Staines is also said to be on the outer but we probably have enough outside backs.

He’s apparently on much more then 300K something closer to 550K.. that’s the scoop and if that’s true they overpaid him for sure.. at the time he probably looked like the man who would take over Tamou and be their new starter but gee he’s fizzled out into mud this season. Still has a huge future I reckon but

Leniu has high talent but low fitness.

Staines is Bevan French if he can’t put on some muscle and keep his speed.

Staines is a fullback, played all his juniors there and was Player of the Year in the Ron Massey Cup a couple of years ago playing there. He's too small to be a winger but they have played him there to stop him from going to the Bulldogs. Will be interesting to see if the Dogs have another sniff at him now.

Nah I wouldnt worry about either of them, I would rather Olam & Luke Thompson if the Chooks cant get Olam I would then target Campbell Graham.

What I saw from Spencer in the last few rounds only solidified my thoughts that we should buy him. He's a really powerful runner.

yep the club is waiting for the NRLs new salary cap limit......its going to be a battle to keep Lodge let alone looking at players who will attract 500k plus at Wests or Saints

I think the Staines option is off the table now as the Tigers and Panthers are working out an arrangement for a swap deal. Panthers want Tyrone Peachey back for pocket change and it looks like they're open to releasing Staines to Wests.
