Hard one for the chooks with all the outs compounding again.....but the one thing in our favour is our coach always has a great game plan and the team can attack .
The problem is the chooks are also great for bombing 4 or 5 tries a match....been mainly the younger blokes lack of team cohesion ..not their fault ..just respect the ball abit more and hang onto it and finish the plays.
Memo; Lachlan Lam..when your in the clear for gods sake set up your men instead of looking lost dont pass early and do not pass late .\Marshke..no effen penalties .Isaac Liu follow him always has an offload in him but no one tracks him...Halves take note.
The refs ???? I have no idea what shit they will bring this game .
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

Some manly acquaintances have started the texting. Usual salary sombrero stuff , still being able to field a squad despite all the injuries. These insults are so boring.

I just came off a video work call and one of the guys who follows AFL asked me about the Roosters history etc. The other guy we work with (Dragons fan and a great mate of mine really) started making cracks about Uncle Nick and his supply of paper bags. I just quoted someone on here (thanks by the way whomever you are) and said paper bags are so nineties and we use Bitcoin now.. I said we don't pay overs for wingers etc by offering them millions of dollars per season and the business is a well oiled machine run by someone who knows what he is doing..oh and we don't get premierships taken off us like the Storm did.

They just offered me another promotion and another contract extension..LOL.my job is to uncover facts and I did just that...

We have to improve by 95% to give ourselves a chance. If we can skip away early they might panick. If we had Keary we'd win by 20.

manly were thrashed last week and the idea of finishing 5th being better than finishing 4th would have worked if we hadn't lost verrills and tauks. still, teams don't always bounce back after a thrashing

True Juggy however they went what... 6 weeks or so without one of their guns and we went almost a full season without almost 10 of ours and we still finished on the same points. I know which team deserves it more and has the grit and determination to win it.

                We will win.

This weeks game is our real test - up against it with more players out , and Gerard Sutton, whose one - off chameleon performance doesn't need to be repeated again (because Robbo's spray is now long forgotten)
I am still quietly confident the Roosters can get up .
We can't let Turbo and Saab have any space.
And Foran tends to throw the money balls that result in tries.
If we win this week I am supremely confident we can knock over Souffs - Nat Butcher and Tauks could be back for that game, meaning we are fielding a much stronger side next week.

For some unknown reason, I am a bit more confident that we can win and more so now with Ben Marschke at hooker instead of Verrills (I don't know why).

if he can show up and play solid like he did against the Eels back in round 9 where he just kept turning up and made over 60+ tackles then I'm confident knowing he's there in the middle and not a smaller body like Lussick or Lam. I think we'll be fine. I just hope Nat Butcher is fully recovered otherwise I would've liked to have Tuku Hau Tapuha or Naufahu Whyte on the bench instead.

                      Good lordy help us!

For whatever reason some of our players just can't catch a football to save their lives. And I'm not talking errors in attack. I'm referring to basic dropsies, I.e. the Isaac Liu basic fumble.

If we are to beat Manly we simply must clean this up.

Also of the Titans 4 trys, all 4 were from significant errors. Iku didnt need to be so aggressive on the grubber right on HT, there was the comical dropsy from the bomb with two players colliding, the even more comical tackle attempt on Brian Kelly, and the Laurel & Hardy performance from Lam & Iku for their final try. That's 18 points totally given away, 24 if you want to be harsh on Iku misreading the grubber.

So that's a 67% completion rate plus some shocking errors to hand over points. And yet we still won with half a footy side missing.

I don't know how we do it; but if we can tidy up the ball control and be more clinical in defence then there's no reason we can't win.
Not sure why the completion rates are so low - Chooks have the lowest of all 16 teams and 11th in offloads so it's not like they offload at will and play razzle dazzle hot potato footy with the ball as a reason for this.

Puts way too much pressure on the defence when you give the opposition more sets than they would normally have.

                        Predictions?
                        Sure.
If we don't play better than we did against the Titans we'll be in strife.
In the tropical sauna it was a very hard game. Our team played well and won.
To beat Manly they will have to play better...less mistakes.
Keep turning the ball over to Manly and they will make us pay.

Yeah uncle nick always pops up and you're right its easier to just take the piss out of ourselves than try argue a serious point with a delusional rival
In my experience its always manly and dragons fans living in yesteryear, self appointed purists thinking they represent the highest virtues of the game by unleashing all their history. Then there's parramatta fans, so many seem to be fans by family association? I tried to give a parra colleague a bit of stick once and they had no idea who their players were.
According to manly fans texting me, their team has exceeded expectations this season to get this far so whatever happens they're happy. That is a loser mentality in my opinion. But I have sat around plenty of spectators over the years that have surprised me with their aversion to rivalry, they applaud the opposition, look at it as a nice unified day out for everybody, and have a very gentle attitude to winning or losing. I just wasn't raised that way. Even if its my boss I show no mercy !

                            Last week I grabbed:
                            - A 6-pack of bloke in a bar lagers (NSW version... cheap as they were leftovers from Origin. Why have I been drinking hipster beers for so long? Lager just works!)
                            - Chilli and lime corn chips.
                            - Beef jerky from our local butcher.
                            - Wasabi Harvest Snaps.
                            - Maybe a little bag of chocolates if I'm lucky.
I was eating my dinner towards the end of the titans game and was shovelling it in without even realising it, I was hypnotised. Same goes for bowls of nuts or nibbles during a game its something out of Dorry's tavern.

Turbo won’t be kept quiet two weeks in a row.

It’s never ideal facing a team coming off a heavy loss.

All the pressure is on them. They are full strength and are expected to win.

I predict we're gonna win, otherwise I wouldn't bother watching.

                                > [chopstiks] Yeah uncle nick always pops up and you're right its easier to just take the piss out of ourselves than try argue a serious point with a delusional rival...

Agreed mate. My workplace discussions generally involve fluff and fantasy like that. IMO nobody's supposed to take such banter too seriously and I'm generally the one making claims that we're gonna be able to poach players & bribe refs with brown bag payments. Other discussions (with a certain Souffs fan) generally rely on facts like:
                                - Their boss chucks phones at people
                                - Their coach is old and is p!ssing off next season
                                - Latrell's suspended
                                - Reynolds is leaving
                                - The 2014 premiership involved Souffs getting gifted way more penalties than anybody else
                                - 1909 'premiership' was bullshyte & shows Souffs never had any sense of 'pride'
                                - Easts don't rely on ancient history books when talking about their success
                                - Souffs players are grubs (e.g. lotsa DV, diving, drug binges...etc)

I feel like every fan needs a list like the above in their back-pocket (plus some witty comments about Nick's $$$) to pull out when some whinging opposition fan starts calling us shyte. Nobody takes it too seriously but you've gotta be able to laugh and have fun. Facts are kinda secondary TBH... I usually just lean into it and if they get too proud about their club, I just resort to 'yeah well too bad Nick's got more $$$ than you and will be able to poach all your juniors with brown bag payments'. That or (if I pick that they don't even know their own roster) I can just list out all the Easts juniors in our squad and be like 'it's a bit of a myth that we have no juniors... we have great development systems... half the problem is that clubs like Souffs go poaching guys like Latrell after we've built them up as juniors'.
