  • Payne Haas

    Was listening to the Big Sports Breakfast and heard that Payne Haas is having a dispute with his manager, that recent claims that he has extended his contract with the Broncos are not accurate. Also that he isn’t happy that players like lodge and Flegler were/are on bigger coin.

    Nothing too unusual there I thought…. But then they mentioned that Haas has turned to SBW for advice and possibly guidance. That part got me excited.

    I wonder if SBW could do us a solid.?

    Hold your horses and the $$$ because in a couple of years we'll have not one but two barge bros of our own from Brisbane to rival Haas.

    I'm excited!

        Man, the mind boggles.......the youngest at 15 is already mammoth and has MUCH more growing to fill out. To top it off he's ambition is to study medicine. Model athletes.

          Apparently, he wants to study medicine so he can repair the broken bodies he leaves in his wake after he runs through them.

              I'm also very excited about our new bro's, but I wonder just how long it will be before we see either, let alone both, in 1st grade? I'd think about 3 years for the elder, 5 for the younger?

                  I thought out debutant looked strong last week as well. I'm still learning his name, Hau Tapuha I think.

                    You know SBW will advise him to get into a high performance environment so that means he's leaving the Broncos.

                    I think he commands 700-800k on the open market.

                    Too much for us.

                        7-800k for haas is too much?

                        I think he is better than taumalolo and Jake turbo and they are on 1million and 900k respectively.

                          With no major signings on the radar other than Connor Watson ($300K per season for 2x years) ... if we can lock down Manu as a priority then perhaps a look at Haas isn't a bad idea. The money we would have from Boyd Cordner's salary could be potentially offered to Payne Haas.

                          * Brett Morris $$$
                          * Josh Morris $$$
                          * Jake Friend $$$
                          * Isaac Liu $$$

                          Obviously some of the lads aren't/weren't on big contracts but they would all add up and if we were seriously looking at Brandon Smith a few weeks ago (prior to signing Connor Watson) then surely we could have a serious consideration and look at Payne Haas (SBW & Politis could make it work ). Even if it's for 2x years max as a transition from JWH and SST as they would probably get close to finishing up with the Roosters, I would welcome the addition (if it's a genuine possibility).

                              And imagine how much more we will have for 2025 because that is when he is available. I can't see the Broncos releasing him with three years remaining. They will upgrade him to make him happy but his issue appears to be with his manager not the Broncos.
