The NRL has become more of a farce since Vlandys got control of it. The guy is a narcissist. He's pushing players too hard. It's not what the fans want. We don't want another lopsided competition like 2021 has been. If Vlandys thinks Robbo is wrong the he can launch a defamation case. In the meantime, we should start a Go Fund Me page for Robbo's fine. That will help show Vlandys what we think of the rubbish that passes for the NRL.

As for Mitchell, he should be charged with assault.

By the way, I have no real issue with the on-field ref getting it wrong from time to time. I do have a problem with the guy with a million bucks worth of tech getting it wrong.

Have a look at Turbo's first try yesterday that got given the green light. Whoever was in the bunker obviously doesn't know a simple rule. Is that what you would call professional?
Annesley just said it was a clear try. The guy is a dope.
He also said he couldn't understand the uproar surrounding the hair pull penalty

"There is no place for the abuse or harassment of match officials by club officials on the sideline. It’s not tolerated in community sport and it’s certainly not tolerated in elite sport.

I think what I have seen the going rate for this is no further action from the on field official and $1,600 fine.

in junior community sport Mitchell and Gagai would have been sent off and both would have received increased suspensions

I'd be prepared to pay an annual subscription to cover the costs of Robbo speaking the truth every week.

As for exposing Perenara to ridicule, let's be honest, he needed no outside help.

"NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said all clubs need to maintain professional standards on and off the field.

"Sport can be highly emotional and sometimes people will debate decisions made on the field and we expect all clubs to deal with on-field matters respectfully," he said.

"We can analyse and debate decisions, but such commentary should not be personalised and disrespectful. In our view there was a lack of professionalism shown by the club and its officials across Friday night."

When are these c##ts at the NRL ever professional, they act with impunity, narcissim, disdain & lack of respect for all involved . They just don't get it they are killing our great game.....

Hi rcl1966. I'm struggling a bit as well. I felt a bit better today when a few reports said Joey was doing well and somehow getting out of hospital tomorrow. Some sort of niceness from Mitchell publicly or whatever might help even more.

I guess the NRL(No Real Leadership) still don't understand what "professionalism" actually is.They can always look to this club for a true understanding of that word but i doubt they have the brains to do that.

Amazing that this incident has driven formerly quiet Roosters supporters to contribute to The Chookpen - welcome Emo, rcl1966, and any others who have recently joined.

As for the muppets at NRL central, get your own house in order before you go accusing the Roosters of lacking professionalism. Muppets.

It's time to move on. There's a game on Thursday. Pay the money, make no more public comment, but get a sit down with Annesley and whoever else maybe after the season is over, to try and get us a fairer deal from then on. For this season they're already under pressure to be more on our side.

                          Agreed.

Can't let it linger and end up getting a heap of sloppy suspensions against the Faders. Time to move on... Nick can hopefully pull out the company card, sort-out the financial side of things and then pour everybody a nice cup of Grange so we can all calm the fark down.

IMO we're lucky to have been fined a taken $40k. Souffs pulled the short straw with a 6 week suspension.

                            I just don't get this.
The coach blasts the officials (bunker and ref) saying they are incapable of making the right decisions.
The next day, Annersley backs that up and confirms what the coach has said is correct.
He suspends the bunker for incompetence and says the ref and bunkers got it wrong - Latrell should have been sent off.
Yet they fine the coach $40K - for speaking the truth. Blimey.

The other issue that Trent raised was "if you can't get it right, you need to put someone in charge who can"
                            I agree.
It seems to me that the officials are frozen in fear of making a wrong decision when something happens.
They haven't a clue as to whether they issue a penalty, sin - bin, or send off.
                            And its all about commonsense.
My 9 year old son would be able to review football footage and make the right decision.
The NRL already set a precedent earlier this year.
If you tick 3 boxes i) contact to the head ii) reckless iii) forceful
                            you are automatically sent off.
                            Simple.
And if the ref and bunker are still unsure, they should go straight to the expert that's on the field.
Stop the game for a minute , and consult the trainer.
He is a medical expert and can probably tell you within 10 seconds whether the player has suffered a significant injury, such as a broken jaw, broken nose, or broken cheekbone.
If the ref then announces the victim was hit high (or otherwise illegally) , recklessly and forcefully, and has an injury as a result, he sends the offending player off.
No one is going to argue with that.

Until and unless match officials behave with professionalism and competence, then don’t look for respect. Just don’t. Unprofessionalism and incompetence is acceptable in no other workplace on the planet except the NRL refereeing ranks, and the only place where stakeholders get fined for pointed out the incompetence, even when they admit they got it wrong. Cue the circus music and streamers.

What an effing mess of an organisation.

No I don’t think so. For too long we have made minor complaints and it doesn’t take long for us to find ourselves in the same position again. Time to make a stand against this rubbish. If we accept the fine we are just accepting we are the ones at fault.
I doubt we are winning the comp this year anyway. I am interested to see what would happen.
