  • Roosters Vee Souths

Easts have had difficulty beating the 3 :top sides in recent times......4 Losses to Melbourne,4 losses to Panthers and 3 losses to Souths

Obviously there is a need to change tactics...what worked so well in 2018 and 2019 doesn't cut it any longer

Robbo rarely, if ever uses a short kickoff ,even when the team is getting flogged...think the last round game against Souths in 2020 and the second match against the Storm this year.

we have an incredible jumper in Daniel Tupou...why not use him in a short kick off?

all our kickoffs are the same....so predictable...am sure Sam Walker would like to try a short kickoff. once in awhile........the Walker Bros have had great success with the short kickoff

Latrell is suspect under the high ball....kick to him ...early and often

Brad Abbey will have a lot of high balls coming his way on Friday...hope he is doing plenty of catching practice

Discipline is going to be crucial..

The old short kickoffs get another run...although I do like them.

No surprise we haven’t beaten the top sides this year with so many players missing. To state the bleeding obvious.

Yes, short kick off's. That's what's going to be missing this weekend.

How did we not realise this earlier.

I think making the kick off a contest is a viable option - Short kick off / The 10 metre grubber and chase kick off/ The Mick Cronin type of kick off/ The Drill the ball towards the sideline Kick off/ The High Kick off like Kyle Feldt's ones are some of the options available other than the tradition kick off.

I am a bit baffled that when the other team are racking up the points the conceding team basically kicks off the same way time and time again - i.e A Titan vs Sea Eagle game - Titan 48-24 behind and they then try a short kick off with 4 or so minutes to go.- what was the point of doing that then.

Chip over the top and cross field kicks too another kicking option this time in attack

I think we need a weekly Cyril Said or Say's Topic Post

I thought we did make use of the short kick off - in last years equivalent game to this one with disastrous results.

It either helped them get to 50 or 60. I can’t exactly recall as I have tried to forget that day. Was there at the game with a friend from work who was a part time South’s supporter.

Needless to say I won’t be doing that again.

Not sure if that happened but why would you do a short kick off when down by 40 or 50- You would do it if say if they scored back to back tries to change the momentum.

we need a game plan that represents a realistic view of where we're at and basically it'll be about defending well and making the most of our chances

I've always thought that the best way to rest momentum back is to come up with a really strong defensive set and then try and work your back into the arm wrestle from there. Try and win the first three collisions of the next set and then complete your set and get a good kick in on the end of it. Complete your next three sets and your back in the contest. I've never been a fan of giving the opposition an easy way out of their red zone by trying a short kick off unless its late in the game and you're chasing points
