You're right coach. Connor, Metcalfe and Mosman were the baby front row in 77. Artie, Coote and Bunny were at their injured, final year in the back row.

Mal Connor is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) premiership.

Connor played for the Eastern Suburbs club in the years 1976 and 1977 as well as 1979 to 1980. A hooker, Connor played in the Easts side that defeated St George Dragons in the final of the 1977 mid-week cup competition.

Still cant find out any info about his death apart from Ray Stehr's post. I remember Mal being our hooker in 1977 with Michael Mosman and Gary Metcalfe as the props.

Not sure whether it 1978 or later but i remember Mal playing a reserve grade game and he was the goal kicker for some reason, lets just say Mal as a goal kicker made Brendan Hall look like Hazem Elmasri.

Typical wikipedia to get it wrong, Easts defeated St George in the 1978 mid week cup final and Mal played in that game, he also played in the 1977 mid week cup final loss to West . So some of his playing dates year wise are wrong ( he played in 1978 )according to wikipedia, which i assume was taken off the rugby league project site.
