Amazingly if SST is out this weekend only five of our seventeen 2019 GF side takes the field - when we have fourteen on the roster. Nine of them missing and that leaves aside the replacements like Iku, Suaali, Morris, Smith…

It’s absolutely incredible that we are still punching away.

    Forget Bellamy or Gibson.

    Robbo is the best ever.

Tend to agree. A Herculean effort by Robbo, the staff and roster.
Bellamy deserves the gong of best coach this year to beat the 1975 Rooster record.
    Both great coaches with Gibson

I mean sure, but this comp has been a 2 or 3 or 4 team comp for months - the rest just want it to over with so they can go home. Going in to camp has been very beneficial for our squad and making it to the 2nd or 3rd week of finals would indeed be a good result, but we play for premierships and our squad at the start of the season looked a genuine shot at challenging so it's eh - frustrating to watch.

Robbo is also only 44, to put that in perspective, bellamy is 61, has been a head coach 10 years longer and has the same amount of premierships.

by the time he retires, robbo will be clearly the best ever.

Of the potential top 8, I don't think we can only safely beat Parra.

Knights and Sharks are getting players back.

Manly are the smokies. They will challenge the legitimate big boys.

And the legitimate big boys - the three teams above us - are vastly superior to us.

              Your spot on.
Some on here think we are still going to win the comp. If the Chooks can hold Souths to a 10 points loss tomorrow night I'll be stoked, no matter how much I love the Chooks & the spirit under Robbo there is no way the Chooks can compete against the top 3 teams with a whole first grade side out. I just hope it doesnt get ugly tomorrow night. The 2 favs will stand up for sure.

                from nrl physio -

Since this tweet 3 weeks ago the Roosters have added Dale Copley (foot) and Josh Morris (hamstring) to their list of major injuries, with Nat Butcher (PCL) a potential addition too. Can’t remember a toll like this re longer terms injuries in a side over a single season.

None of JS, Iku, BSmith or Adam Keighran were in our original 17 at the beginning of the year. Now all these backs are out for the season. Far out, forget about a B-Team. We are now playing with our 3 string outside backs.

Need to look at it a different way. Players are in the NRL squad for a reason as they are deemed NRL standard players.

Being in the NRL squad they are full time professionals and train as such with all the assistance that can be provided to develop and improve their skills to play at that level.

It's not like the old days in having to bring up a raft of reggies players and hoping they will perform.

A lot of these players have also come through the pathway systems or as young players from other clubs with few if any NRL games so as a result they all know what is expected of them being in the Chook system and are well prepared to perform on match day.

Basically they should be able to play at this level that should not be in question given what i have said above although the test has been the ability to back up week after week after week to cope with the weekly grind of NRL footy which the players have to a large extent.

Robbo and his Coaching team under the next player up mentality haven't made the same mistakes as other Coaches have over the years either by trying to have the replacement players play like the players they are replacing which is a recipe for disaster.

There is no I in Team as they say and all they need to do is the job expected of them nothing more and to the best of their ability.

Why can't they though - All the players in the squad are full time professionals and are well prepared for match day to perform- it's a simple game as i keep on saying - high set completions/ low errors and set restarts and penalties conceded/ straight line of defence that works as a unit at speed and limits the opposition time and space with the ball and a good long and short kicking game.

Chook are poor in set completions and this get's them in trouble in games as the errors/penalties/missed tackles mount and the discipline goes out the window.

If the players run out on match day thinking they can't compete against the side they are playing then they won't.

That seems to be the attitude a lot of sides have when they play Storms/Panther and Rabbit and basically you see sides give up.when they run in a early tries.
