  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Saints

This game is a stepping stone to building confidence leading into the last 2 rounds before the semis. Our heavily depleted team should have no problem hammering another nail into Saints coffin.

Great to have our true leader Jarred back. Hopefully he leads the charge and our halves get plenty of space to dominate.

    Go Roosters!

Tough game against a bogie side for us . Confident that we can win but who is going to step up for Rads and JWH is our issue. If the boys aim up we win but just.

So excited for this game for so many reasons. Good luck Roosters and I know you won't disgrace yourselves in my home region in Qld. Next man up... Hope some of my cousins and school friends can be there.

I assume you meant Rads & Gus. I quite like what Ice brings as lock, he is very solid in defence, has good footwork & decent ball skills. Nat does his job on the edge OK too. Saints pack looks below par, so I’m hoping we can dominate even without 2 of our better forwards. As long as the bench boys do their job we should really win this comfortably.

I think our record over the DragQueens is something like15 wins from 20 games in the last 10 years. So I don't think they are a BOGIE team for us.

But as we are missing ELEVEN of our top 30 from the start of the season in Friend, Cordner, Collins, Keary, Radley, Angus, B Moz, J Moz, Smith, Iku andSuaali unavailable from injury, suspension or retirement then I guess it is possible we might lose, but I think we can win this.

It's amazing that we are even in contention after the horror injury toll we have had this year. Imagine how we would have gone if we could have had this team on the park for most of the season

            Teddy.
            Toops,
            J Moz/ Smith
            Manu
            B Moz/ Suaali/ Iku
            Keary
            Walker
            JWH
            Friend
            TKO
            Cordner
            Angus
            Radley

            Collins
            Liu
            Sitili
            Verrills

I doubt that Melbourne, Penrith, Souths or Manly could have done as well as we have in the same situation.

I can’t remember the last time they beat us, must be years ago, they usually put up a good fight on Anzac Day, but it feels like a few years ago that the have got us in that too.

Cronk’s first Anzac game they beat us. Most on here went on to say Cronk was useless.

This is from the Roosters website:

Recent History: Sydney Roosters vs St George Illawarra Dragons

The Sydney Roosters and St George Illawarra Dragons will clash for the 45th time on Sunday afternoon at Clive Berghofer Stadium in Toowoomba, with the Tricolours currently holding a six-game winning streak over their opponents going back to 2018.

Of course, the Roosters and Dragons rivalry initially started in 1921 when St George entered the NSWRFL competition, with Easts winning the first encounter 23-11.

Overall, the Tricolours have a 52% winning record over their rivals since 1999, with 23 wins from 44 matches played since 1999, having won eight of the last ten contests.

Brisbane are our bogey side and Cronulla used to be as well. Canberra and the Vermin just scare me so I am going to enjoy today hopefully and then hide for the next 2 weeks..my own kind of self isolation whilst we tackle the 2 teams I dislike the most in the last 2 rounds..

I remember saying on here many years ago that he was the only Melbourne player who didn't make my skin crawl. Uncle Nick must have read my post..

Agree Thirteen, looking for a solid win to take into the games against quality opposition we have coming up.

Don't think much will change today but I think things need to moving forward. SST seemed to come out with a real intent to off load early last week and I would love to see more of that from all the forwards. Slow and steady will beat St George today, but it isn't going to beat Souths, Melbourne or the Panthers in the weeks ahead ( still hopeful of catching these teams on an off day in the finals).

They have done everything asked of them to date, but it would be great to now see our pack create a bit more broken play for Teddy, Walker and Manu to feed off rather than looking to those players to always create the momentum.

Anyway, I will settle for 2 points, no injuries and no suspensions.

the dragons are stuck in reverse but this is a gf for them so you never know but this is about us and playing good footy. would like to see sammy walker tweak his involvement a bit and take a bit more control. teddy's our match winner but it's good to have options. joey's having his best regular season of his career and i love watching him play. can't wait to see jwh back out there and looking for ebutch and baker to inject themselves to good effect.

Yep given our performance against Brisbane this year, I never go in expecting a win. It'll be tough, but I'm clearly gonna be cheering for Easts while wanting us to kick butt. If we don't, then that's clearly gonna be Sutton'z fault
