NRL 2021 transfer news: Connor Watson signs with Sydney Roosters
KP said yesterday that he definitely won't be following Connor to Bondi, said his dream is to still win a comp in Newy so you can give up any hope on that one unfortunately
Gee they have underperformed Newcastle. On paper they are very strong but they have even been struggling to put away the lowest of teams. If i had to guess mayne the wraps.on Obrien were unwarranted??
Yep, he should be doing better with that squad, they definitely have some good names in their team when fully fit, I think they can beat anybody in that bottom part of the 8.
a lot of teams have struggled to get away from the dogs, they definitely try their hardest in defence, we only just scraped past them too.

Of course he says that publicly about the team who pays him a million odd dollars. Privately it would be a different story. Also what’s to say we’d be in the market for him? We seem to have his positions covered pretty well. Personally I’m not such a fan. Can’t stand how he’s always looking to pass when he’s in his own danger end. Have a run ya pussy!
On another note. I bet Pearce is very envious of Connor’s move. He is no doubt hating being at that shitty club.
Just heard Watson's presser on this. Interesting as it sounds like...
- Watson called Robbo as a mentor with no intention of being offered a contract. He had this discussion to check whether Robbo thought he should accept a Super League contract.
- After that chat, Robbo threw in a cheeky comment along the lines of 'I guess you're not looking to come back to Bondi?'
- Watson very quickly made the call that he'd return to Bondi.
A good news story IMO as (like many) he's left for the $$$ (as if anybody on here would knock-back $500k a season aged ~22), developed and then come back on what's still a respectable salary (~$300k a year).
I reckon it's players like this that win you the comp. Your big guns need to earn their $1m a season but if you pay $300k for a heap of players and they all play like they're on $600k (maybe in order to win their next pay bump - who cares why) then you very quickly start to dominate the comp.
Not only does that speak of how approachable Trent is, it speaks volumes of how much Connor felt comfortable calling Trent in the first place for some advice. How many of us call our former bosses to talk about prospective career moves and end up going back to work for them.
Thanks for sharing that Ism. Connor was always a favourite of mine.

I’d put Newcastle’s season down to one bloke, Mitch Pearce. With shades of our 2016 season, off-season debauchery from Mitchell drove fractures within the squad that were never recovered. Same for Newcastle this year unfortunately.

Hahaha Knoughts management & the influencial Johns'.............you reap what you sow.
I am very happy about him returning. I did not want to him go in the first place. His utility value is excellent, and will be even better now that he is content to play that role and understand where he is at with his game. I am looking forward to him coming home next season.
MRR or Rabid
Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
