Haha Radley is in front of everyone as a lock. I just want to hear your thoughts on why he couldn’t end up a skilful front rower. He’s been playing front row when he comes on not lock.

I agree with you HC. Egan Butcher IMO is not a front rower and that's despite the game changing drastically.
He played his entire junior Bunnies career as a specialist five-eight and is better suited playing wide of the ruck exploiting opposition defensive lapses or ball playing rather than barging the ball through the middle.
Our battering rams coming through to compliment JWH and Collins are the likes of Ben Thomas, Fletch Baker, Hau Tapuha, White, the bloke we signed from Dogs and a few others whose names don't come to mind.

If he puts on around 10-15 kgs he could develop into a front rower but he's listed at 96kgs which is just too light these days to be a long term option as a frontie. Can do a job in the front row for a short stint like he has been doing, but he's not a starter in that spot. My originl comment was on the back of posters trying to find a starting spot for him and saying he was a middle. Edge or middle, with us there is still going to be a couple in front of him at this stage of his career

doesn't surprise that he was a 5/8. he's clearly a talent but it's not clear what his best position is

You would probably be best off ignoring those listed weights as they are usually way out of date. There is no way he is under 100kg's now and I don't think you need to be 110kg's to play front row in today's game.

Yeah I saw he’s listed at that and that definitely isn’t what he’s playing at currently. I’d say he’d be around 102-104 at the moment. He looks about the same size as Baker next to each other and Baker is 110kg, albeit a bit taller.

I personally hope we run with JWH and Collins starting and Taukeahio, Baker and Egan as the three forwards on the bench. While Nat has been reliable I see a lot more upside in Egan. Should Crichton move on at some stage Egan would be a perfect replacement. But yeah until that happens he’s a bench lock/prop. In saying that if TKO is down on form to start next year, and Collins takes a while to get back into it, I can see Butcher being a very reliable starter, especially sitting at around 105kg. The young forwards coming through has been the highlight of the year for mine.

If Egan continues his run of form I can see him as a very similar player to Joe Tapine who we are linked with.

Can play edge at a pinch but is very effective in the middle as lock/prop looking for the offload or quick PTB

Imagine if TRobbo developed him into a Wade Graham prototype.

Stoked to hear this. I'll have to go listen to the interview, too. I really, really rate this kid and I also put a large value on people who love the club and want to play for it. Hopefully looking at you, Manu.

From my observations if you are a forward at the Roosters it doesn’t matter what position you have played you have to do an apprenticeship playing in the middle. Once Robbo is convinced your tough enough & you can defend because of what he has seen of the player playing in the middle he then gives them a crack at playing on the edge.
