Smith should not be held accountable if we have a bad season. He has been lumbered with the worst fullback and five-eighth in the comp.

    Our "spine" is broken.

That's an interesting point of view LR.

Realistically, which coach nowdays has any guarantee where he will be in 12 months time. So much can change during 1 season.

I'm sure at this stage of 2009 Easts weren't on Brian's radar. He's coached long enough to know how it all rolls.

        NC
Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

Wrong time to get rid of Smith in my opinion. He and POS have built a good little group of youngsters over the last few years, and I don't want some new coach coming in and booting players left right and centre. Renew his contract till 2015 and then see.

Agree completely. He needs to see this rebuilding phase through.

Doesn't matter what we fans think (and I agree he should stay to at least see if all the young talent shine) it is the nature of the game.
The clubs expect a result. Ours is no different and Nick has shown his displeasure in the past at non performing coaches.

2 seasons... 1 year we are runners up, next year we're 11th despite all the BS that Todd FARKING Carney caused behind the scenes.

If we make the finals this year then I really can't see why we'd boot Smith? So-far he has met expectations and membership numbers have increased significantly as a consequence.

We need to make the 8 the benchmark though... anything lower isn't good enough. Particularly in an inconsistent year like last year, where no teams really dominated.

Agree 100%. He is as good as any coach around.
