For such a young man Boyd Cordner has an injury list even a 300 game player would be filthy on.
Luckily that is all in the past now and Cordner is fully fit and ready for his biggest season to date.
“To be honest this is the best I have ever felt,” Cordner said.
“The trials have been really good and I know it is only trials but all through the pre-season I have been feeling great and I am ready to rip in this year and hopefully put in some consistent performances.”
Cordner, who made his debut in Round 13 against the Warriors last season says last year was a massive learning curve for himself.
“I know what to expect now in terms of the speed and pace of first grade football,” he said.
“Physically it was a massive step up and even though there is a lot of competition for spots here I would love to get picked in the team every
week and play well consistently.”
The 19 year old from Taree has been named in the second row for Monday night’s season opener against fierce rivals South Sydney.
Despite achieving so much so young there is some proof Cordner is still human.
Cordner was happy to share a little sneak in to an unwanted ritual in his pre match preparation.
“It is really weird and I don’t know why it happens, probably nerves I would say but I normally spew before every single game that I play in,” he said.
“It is usually just a couple of minutes before we run out or sometimes just as we are running out.”
Spew or no spew it doesn’t seem to be having any impact on young Cordner who despite his reservations should be a man we will be seeing plenty of in 2012.
Nerves means the Kid cares and is out to do his best!
