  • Who made Shane Flanagan a commentator?

Dead set this guy's a bitter lemon!!! I turned the commentary off coz all I could hear was Fox's 'Premiership Winning Coach' (aka suspended drug cheat) making sly jabs at Walker.

He didn't even use his name. Every two seconds the flog was like 'oh that was a poor decision/execution from that halfback...Trent Robinson would be disappointed'. Got to a stage where I was like 'FFS buddy... we all know your son got dropped for Walker. ZIP IT YOU D!CKHEAD!!!'

Fortunately Walker had the last laugh as he iced the game (once again - how many games has he iced now? He seems to ice every game he plays!) Bloody hell though. Surely somebody in admin/management has the power to be like 'dude can you stop trash talking the guy who replaced your son? This is starting to sound really bitter and immature... no like now... if you mention him again, we're tearing up your contract and marching you outta here'. Talk about scraping the barrel! It's almost as bad as calling in Mark Latham on election night.

Yeah mate was hard not to notice the bias against us from him. At the end of the day though who really cares, it's fairly obvious how bias he is and will do anything to get his son a leg up, in which this situation was having a dig at Walker all game. Fox don't have good commentators, you have Flanagan who is a notorious cheat, Ennis who doesn't shut up and Blocker who can't even name the correct player. Hard to listen to most of the time tbh

Fox should send some of their commentators to media school, for english grammar, pronunciation, elocution lessons.
      Some of them are shockers.
Seemingly biased commentary against the Roosters and their players?
      Nothing new?
Mostly, I turn the sound off and just watch as if I'm at the game.
Some of the commentators seem to always be cheering for any team that's playing the Roosters...seemingly going into unbridled excitement as points are scored against the Roosters.

Who made Shane Flanagan a commentator?
      His employer.

He’s been bitter towards us since he left here at the end of 2004. The guys a complete flog. It’s not like he adds anything much in the way of insight anyway.

It is going to be quite a long list of clubs and players that have replaced his son, this bitter and twisted tainted premiership winning coach will age 30 years in 3 on current form

Yeah look at the Doggies as soon as they introduced Lewis ay!

I don't hate the guy but IMO his dad's doing him more harm than good by getting all shytie about people who drop/replace him. What he SHOULD be doing is either staying away from him (i.e. letting his coach do the coaching) or giving useful advice, rather than excuses.

As a sprinter it hurt me pretty badly when my coaches started focussing on 16 y/o's who were slower than me. I was like 'but I am faster than them!!! I run at nationals!!!' They (quite respectfully) responded with 'yeah but you're an adult... they are 16... their technique is way less robotic and it's only a matter of time until they're faster than you'. IMO it's tough hitting hurdles like that as a determined (and talented) youngster. However, you have 3 options...
            1. Shut up, put your head down, keep improving and wait for good timing (e.g. Lam and Hutch have had a good run this year and Hutcho's just won himself a new contract... he loves his footy and [for example] $250k a year isn't a bad salary).
            2. Make excuses, get in your coach's ears and try to verbally convince them you're being under-estimated. Good luck!
            3. Decide you've reached your potential and either quit or go to the UK/France/Japan for better opportunities. Who knows... you might mature and return for a bit of a renaissance later on.

His dislike for the Roosters and especially Walker was so obvious it wasn't funny. Was sweating on a missed tackle or bad pass from Walker.

He is also one of the most boring and most monotoned commentator I've heard.

I actually didn’t notice the comments about Walker. During the game I thought his comments about us were fair but he did go down the track of saying what the cows had to do to beat us. I’m so tired of most commentators riding home our opposition.

I don't mind him as a commentator I like hearing from a coaches perspective but it would probably be only natural to harbour some bitterness if your son had been replaced by another player and point out his faults it's a very human thing to do.
I'm sure deep down he would realise that Walker has much more upside to his game than his son does bar goal kicking.
The part I love about Sam is even when he does stuff up he doesn't go into his shell and if the game's on the line with 15 minutes to go he wants the ball and goes after the win.

This part is so true. He doesn't go missing when a game is on the line and can ice the big moments. Mitchell Pearce was never able to do this in his time at the Roosters. Could come up with big plays in the first half, often early in the second half but would be rarely sighted in the last 10-15 minutes of a match.

That's rubbish. Numerous times he praised Walker including one time where he said he doesn't dwell on mistakes, just focuses on the next play. I didn't mind him as a commentator either. Obviously knows the game. He's better than Ennis.

The only time Mitchell Pearce was a danger to the opposition was when he went to pieces and the opposing team could be hit by the shrapnel.
