Newtown side offers some hints to a likely round 1 side

with Takairangi,Symonds,Carney,BJ,Kheirallah all playing for Newtown yesterday it could indicate that all of them except maybe BJ are not likely to play round 1.

the fact Kennedy couldn't get a match under his belt would rule him out, also with Carney playing you would have to think that Smith believes one of Moga/SKD/BJ will be fit enough to play against the Rabbits.

must say i'm a tad surprised Takairangi played and Bosden/Arona didn't this could be another indication which way Smith is leaning for his bench for round 1.

the final equation is whether Smith picks Mortimer or Mitchell as his reserve hooker for round 1.

after seeing who played for Newtown this weekend and hearing what Smith/Club have been sprouting about round 1, it would seem the following team will be pretty close to the 17 that runs out against the bunnies.

With talk that JWH may be the one to make way for SBW it would not suprise me if the club see Taka as a potential long term front row replacement for JWH. Which would be appealing for Taka given the backrow log jam. However if that is the case, it would not suprise me if Taka remains at Newtown unless there are injuries in the top grade which is a given at some point not far down the track. This would be to give him the opportunity to develop in the front row at a lower level, rather than rushing this transition at the top grade.

forgot about Adam Henry, he could be a shot if Moga is indeed out, wouldn't of thought they would risk two players making their debut on opening night.
