Agree and those of us defending the player being bagged out shouldn't be discouraged either

agreed , but probscores or sets up more when he is on.

flanno / lam is an interesting comparison ...flanno , more a game manager , lam a running half ...

neither prob quite fg standard yet, although lam offers more in that he defends ok, and could play hooker or lock ....

both may develop into long term fg players , but i doubt theyll play 120 games between them , lam is a stop gap , doing his best .

We need someone like a LM who can boot it long our kicks are only travelling 30M at the moment with the opposition fullback more times then not bringing it to the halfway line on the first.

              • Keighran kicked well when he was playing hooker. But he get's injured too much.

Your kicking game will always suffer when your forwards aren't laying any sort of platform. At the moment our kickers are being rushed because the defence is on the front foot. If we could generate a bit more ruck speed by winning a couple of our early plays on our sets, our kicking game would benefit greatly. They still won't thump it 70m but they might gen an extra 10-15m per kick which is huge in the overall context of a game

It is a normal way of venting our frustration about the year so far. It all starts in a normal manner with people describing what they think of that player, in this case Lam... There is nothing wrong in saying he's crap, or he's not up to first grade standard or anything else because it's been accepted that fans can have a point of view about their teams, in whatever sport in whichever country, but the problem arises when some don't like what is being discussed and then thats when the member against member insults start, and one of the main one is that norfolk kid with calling other members 'carnts', dickheads, 'shit and anything in his limited vocabulary, and if you're hitching your wagon to his, well that's just disappointing cause you're better than that, AND there are one or two that don't agree with the narrative of this thread, but don't resort to childish name calling.

With that said, this idea that we should be understanding that we have lost so many players etc etc etc... yes I'm sure that many here understand that but it still doesn't stop people from questioning the ability of certain players. Even the best players have had some critics from time to time, but on the other end of the scale as far as experience goes, even young Maerschke has had his critics even when he has busted himself and has played great games AND is a 4th string hooker. I think I asked you this before, but have you been as vocal here about why people are being critical about a 4th string hooker who at times has come off the field with a blood soaked jersey? Well if you have, I missed it. And from reading your posts lately about Lam, you seem to have a personal connection with him more than what i sense from other members...If so, I wonder if this is affecting your ability of being objective about Lam or at the very least, understand that people are allowed to have a say about the club...And lets be real here, Lam is not a 4th string 5/8 or half, his not even 3rd or 2nd. He is the first choice 5/8 as chosen by Robbo at the start of the season, but as a fan and as you might call me dickhead and other dickheads like me, we are disappointed in his overall ability to lead the side like young Walker has done in his very brief NRL career and young years.
                    Well said.

Nobody on here has anything personal against Lam. I don’t think anybody on here actually knows him personally. I assume he is a really good bloke.

When it comes to his footy ability he is limited. He’s not going to be the one in our halves when we win our next premiership. Injury permitting next year, he won’t even get a spot on the bench. Nobody can question his effort and enthusiasm though. I see him as a very average footballer with little potential for improvement. I hope he can prove his many doubters wrong. I’d love to end up with egg on my face as no doubt many on here would. Just can’t see it happening.
                      Well said.

Yes, huge forwards running at pace when they get the ball are good to have.

He divides his time between us and Melb...maybe he should just coach Melb and Jason Taylor be hired fulltime as our kicking /halves coach.

To me, Lam is a utility player...hooker, half, back...not first pick in a premiership-seeking team yet, but very handy to have in case of injuries, which happen often today.
He tries hard, and his off-field conduct is A1.
He loves the Roosters and should be kept at the club.
He's good enough to keep in the top 30, and isn't being paid a fortune.

We don't have a kicking game. No high spiralling bombs.
We don't have any attack in our game. No moves, no angled running at pace, no switches of play. No big forwards all running together, then one barging over for a try.
We don't have any defence, wiped 0-46.
Our team is too small. Other teams run out, they look like battle-hardened giants...our team runs out, they look like fresh-faced schoolboys.

                            ..it’ll be interesting to see

Teddy isn't the best defensive FB either.

Quick and big agile backs from the team of the huge forwards stop them.
