He certainly had the ability but chose the 'thug life' as they say

He hasn't turned his life around, he is a prick and most likely will always be one.
Besides that he is actually contracted to Glebe in the Rom Massey Cup and they haven't been asked to release him.

I remember 2 or 3 years ago he was playing for them (or the Concord - Burwood incarnation) and he punched a player in the head (I think who was lying on the ground) .
Spent a handy 24 weeks "turning his life around"

Mixed reports on this - one says no and one say's yes - minor contract- can't find any details of if he is playing anywhere - Ron Massey Cup or Sydney Shield nothing

Canterbury has failed in an attempt to sign boxer and ex-Roosters star Willis Meehan.
The 25-year-old was once rated the most promising young forward in the game but left the Roosters in 2015 while he was dealing with a number of off field issues.
The then 19-year-old was stood down by the club after he was charged with headbutting a man and stealing his watch near The Star casino. He was sentenced to 150 hours of community service.
Meehan made a boxing comeback in March after a two-year absence and knocked out his opponent in one round. He also troubled Paul Gallen in a spa before his fight with Lucas Browne.
The heavyweight was keen to have another crack at the NRL. He is a much-improved person these days, according to good sources.
Bulldogs recruitment boss Peter Sharp contacted the NRL but was told Meehan would need a clearance from the integrity unit.

Willis Meehan will be at the dogs can’t say how I know but will be here this year mid season signing and from what I was told another 2 years
The guy is a beast! He has been out of the game for ages but stayed fit also undefeated in boxing we need aggression in our pack and he will definitely add that

Wasn’t this guy meant to be the next big thing with us or am I thinking of someone else?

He troubled Paul Gallen in a spa??? Sounds romantic

                Perhaps the author meant spar?

Not sure who the journalist was but has definitely taken creative license with the description. I don't remember him even playing 1 FG game.

He definitely debuted in firsts against the Knights in 2014, but I'm not sure if he played more than the 1 game.

He was never close to a star. He was at a similar level to DSF but was too much of a thug/dickhead/crimnal to make it.

Won't be anywhere near 1st grade....well maybe at the Dogs

Was playing with Manly only a few years ago and struggled to keep up to pace with their Ron Massey team

He worked for me when he was 16. I thought at the time he was a great kid. Hard working and very respectful. Obviously mixed in with the wrong crowd. He was hugely talented.

What went wrong in your opinion? Does he think he is a boxer?
