They got plenty of that. If its the one on Pangai they are referring to, what a load of crap. The guy catted his way to that penalty.

i hate the way players now grab the back of their heads after deliberately backing into a tackle and falling down only to get straight back up with a smile on their face. The game is becoming soccer and it stinks.

Lodge was grabbing his cheek and claiming Manu had smacked him in the cheek. The replay showed Manu going low, Lodge ducking in an attempt to milk a penalty, Manu grabbing his collar and then the whole Broncos team throwing their arms up.

Manu got done for that twice. In both situations, the Broncos were well into their tackle count and got to march the ball down the field.

What's telling is that Manu wasn't charged. So... he was penalised and put on report twice for... nothing?

Karma will get 'em for that though. You don't wanna build a reputation for milking penalties and going down. Boy who cried wolf style.

No one wants to see that mate however the game is turning into a sport in which whoever gets awarded the most penalties wins so teams are starting to play directly for penalties now. We have been quite stern in opposing this type of play for a long time now or at least under Robbo's tenure but we run the risk of being left out in the cold if we refuse to adapt. I'm not advocating it but if the games going that way, we need to play it and play it well. Vlandy's may as well base himself in Hollywood because its where all the good actors and impersonators are located. Change the Dally M's into the Oscar's while he's at it as well!

Oh and by the way, anyone who smacks Lodge in the face deserves to get the penalty, not give one away.

It's quiet interesting ,but can anybody remember any tackled player grabbing the back of their head or neck 2 or 3 seasons ago? I can't and if there is no reward ,then you wouldn't see it happening now either.
            Just a thought.

They should just penalise the crusher where the defender leaves his feet and comes down hard on the neck which has just about been eradicated from the game.
The majority of the ones now are just incidental contact which as you said is a result of the attacker backing into the defence , all it does is make the refs look amateurish and been conned it's a terrible look for the game.

I understand the reasons for the crackdown but it's made the game hard to watch
Yes yes yes. Totally annoying. It’s like the players are more interested in getting the opposition in the bin than playing football. I swear from the very start of the Broncos game their main tactic was to get under the skin of JWH and Victor to get them in the bin or sent off so they could play against 12 men. Unfortunately our players fell for it!

It goes against what you encourage kids to play sport for to try your hardest and to do your best instead it's become feign injuries and look for penalties . You can see as soon as a team spreads the ball out wide instead of thinking of coming across in cover defence they look for a decoy runner to run into and flop onto the ground.
The games heading into real problems with the way it's been officiated and I dread to think what origin will look like and as I've stated before I would prefer our players not to get picked. There's too big a risk the players will get suspended or injured and the club suffers, I wouldn't be surprised if some clubs tried to discourage their players from playing it.

My worry is that a lot of dudes (e.g. Manu) are accepting fines and will find themselves in a lot of shyte later on when the tribunal's like 'you have a record of doing tackles like this'.

Fact be known they've never done tackles like [blah] but you'd be stupid to risk having 1-2 weeks off over a ~$1000 fine. We're now gonna end up in a situation where all our players have some sorta 'record'.

Oh for sure!!! Every time we made a big tackle the whole team were excitedly throwing their arms up while the player was tapping their cheek/chin to be like 'he got me here!!!'

We'll adapt, but like the bloody 5 man strip rule... it takes 1-2 years, and you've gotta spend a lot of time training to not be caught out by a stupid rule rather than focusing on bettering your game.

I watched Gus Gould on 100% footy and he stuck up for Rads. I’ve tried to upload the segment but I’m not sure how to do it. If anyone knows how it’s really worth watching. I think it’s on YouTube.
