Interesting re the fullbacks, I think if we had a more settled team he might have tried like a second floating fullback in Manu. Can see Robbo revolutionizing the game with his out of the box thinking

Fox don’t know what they are doing. First they said Monday then Vonny said Tuesday. I guess it’s either Monday or Tuesday but not Wednesday.

Agreed. I like how he thinks beyond the traditional position descriptions.

Dunno why but it sorta surprises me that as an ex-forward, developing backs seems to be his forte. He's now developed RTS, Latrell, Teddy, Manu, Toops, Ikuvalu...etc.

IMO he involves all the backs much more than a lot of coaches. As a kid, I always wanted to be a forward (despite being the fast guy) because being a winger involved hanging out, waiting for a pass (which never happened if we were getting belted, so I'd go to waste despite having plenty of metres in me). Robbo's good at getting everybody involved...

Trent said we should stop tackling around the head if we don't want to get sin binned.

I just saw Abdo on channel 9. The guy is a fool who knows nothing about the game. Go and take PVL with you. No one will even remember your name in 2 years.

Everything he said was spot on.... if you enjoy watching people get hit in the head and you think it's part of the game you might need to find another sport. No tackles around the head or neck, no late hits, will make the game what it was intended to be.

Freddy said something similar post match and stated that defenders be rewarded for copybook tackles around the legs ie more leniency in holding the player down as both players are less likely to suffer a head knock.

The games petrified of the legal ramifications if they don't take action now of the effects of concussions on players due to head knocks.
Sports changed the moment the NFL had a billion dollar loss due to concussions.
It's not what we grew up with Grant but we are going to have to accept it as the NRL isnt in the position to be able to sustain getting sued by ex players.
Spear tackles were eradicated from the game by penalising anything above the horizontal because Jarrod McCracken sued over the effects from one.
There's going to be short term pain but the game has to be seen to try and cut down on the number of head knocks.

I've never liked the fact you can tackle around the neck. IMO it's too close to the head and having played a bit of yawnion, I always found it odd that league players were encouraged to go high.

Personally I don't a lgree with the 'he can't run without his legs' tackle. You're just asking to get kneed in the head there. However, I reckon players should be going for the chest... and the shoulders if they miss. Not the shoulders/neck... and then the head if they miss that.
