I don't know how we can pay this guy that much and have him box on the side, IT'S FARKING STUPID!!!!! It's professional sport you pick one or the other. How can the coaches or club ever have any authority over him?
As soon as things go bad his wanker manager will use his usual dickhead in the media to tear us apart and we will be back to where we started.

Let the guy earn his money, it's not exactly as though he has a booming academic career to fall back on after football.

I'd prefer we didn't get him but I wouldn't be pissed off if we did providing he doesn't treat us like a transit lounge like some of his ex-dogs did and we don't lose any of our young guns.
My only concern is the length of the contract. I would be pissed off with 4 years at what he would demand. 2 years with an option in our favour is what I would hope but somehow I can't see that happening.

It's his manager and his media friends who scare off other clubs and will bring us down if things go bad.
On the boxing yeh it's easy to say let him fight in the off season but it starts a bad precedent for other players who will say Sonny can do what he wants why can't we. It just chips away at the authority of the coaches and the club.
We can't afford another high profile signing who will cause another circus and walk out on us, enough is enough.

Wow, my first ad hominem attack for quite a while.
And just to clarify, we're replacing one bit of dogshit with another if Braith goes for Sonny Bill.

I have a question to those who are crying fowl over the supposed circus SBW will bring with him to the club.
Where have the off-field dramas, baggage-ridden scandals and nightclub toilet liasons been in the Super 15/for the All Blacks?
The only off-field mountain-out-of-a-molehill speculation I can think of is his contractual saga, which for the most part has been driven by media hearsay and idiots of the Rothfield/Weidler class.
If SBW has so much baggage, why has Rugby (the Crusaders, the Chiefs and the All Blacks) been able to suppress it?

However, if it is negotiated in his contract from the outset, i can't see why it would be a problem. Just stick it in the off-season and let him go for broke. As long as he performs clubs duties regarding training, he can fly with the fairies for all i care.
On the positive, boxing will just supplement his cardiovascular and endurance training.
On another positive, maybe with Sonny Tyson on the field, we can avoid another Fa'ologo incident. Tupou disgraced the club that day.
