  • NRL investigating Robinson for stating the bleeding obvious

    Well so says Rothfield.

I don’t believe he’ll face any sanction. It was incompetent to miss that kneeing. That is an undeniable fact.

No way . They wouldn't have the guts after what the Roosters suffered on the weekend

Robbo didnt call the bunker cheats or biased, which would be denigrating their character, but said they were incompetent for those decisions. And Graham Annersley agreed dumping Chiddy from the bunker and said there were other refereeing issues from the game which he wasnt happy. If they want tifine Robbo for that they betterfine Graham Annersley as, well.

It was about time Robbo dug into the refereeing. Love his composure (unlike other coaches) but I also really love the side when he fires up and doesn't hold back. Sick of getting screwed over by terrible ref calls on a weekly basis.

I agree. However, I reckon they probably have some media guidelines that say 'you cannot bring the refs into disrepute during your conference'. His words were true, but that doesn't mean he was being collegiate.

IMO it's a slippery slope if you're gonna let people publicly sledge the refs on a regular basis. I mean what next... will the refs fire back and say 'mate it's your coaching that's incompetent'.

That said, good on him! IMO the odd slip-up is okay. He was right and I think he summarised a ridiculous situation reasonably politely.

Robbo handled it brilliantly, left all the accountability with them.

You could see he didn’t want to say ‘incompetent’ but there was no other word
              ..it’ll be interesting to see

                yep.
not sure buzz has a scoop here if only cos you'd think that a game on friday would already have drawn sanctions by monday if the nrl are going to do something

I think all he said was that they're asking questions? (Indicated nobody will be fined...etc). Sounds like there's no news here...
                  1. Sticky muttered an f-bomb under his breath. Oh no. Somebody said fark at a footy game.
                  2. Robbo said that the handling of the situation was incompetent (and the NRL agreed by giving Chiddy a day off work). He didn't call anybody incompetent or claim the result was tainted. I think he quite carefully highlighted flaws in the process instead. He'd make a better lawyer than me... always calm and focuses on the process/framework rather than the person's ability/fortitude.

[Context... it's generally not cool for a lawyer to call somebody a liar/cheat/corrupt...etc. This, you've gotta quite carefully speak about what the proper process is, what the relevant test is and how in the given situation, the test wasn't satisfied... IMO Robbo has a good instinct for this kinda discourse within the framework of the NRL's rules/standards/processes. IMO it's much better to say that by accosting him as the boys were running out for the 2nd half rather than putting it on report right away, the collective officials deviated from standard practice rather than calling the ref corrupt and saying it cost you the game]

Yes. And talking about "investigating" is just saving face garbage. They won't do anything.

Since Annersley said basically the same thing himself, the so called investigation is a joke.

Any Coach would have said something, it was that blatant.
Fans from other clubs need to put themselves in Robbo's position and think what would they expect their coach to say.
