Why the Roosters will be a force in 2012! [nrl.com]
We've got a lot of young players, but these days I don't think it takes as long to get them to their peak. The 20 year old of 2012 is like the 25 year old of ten years ago.
I kinda wonder why we've talked Moga up so much before he's even played NRL.
He looks big + fit and no doubt has shown signs of talent, but why put the weight of expectation on the shoulders on an 18 y/o who still might play 2 more seasons of NYC?
You must not have seen Tau Tau play yet. If you had you would understand.
I respect all our moderators here. Past present and even future. Always have done and always will do a wonderful job.
Gee some credit to POS but the real credit should go to Smithy who has the hard job of moulding this talent and performing week to week....pending what happens....but its looking promising.
Im sure he had a fair say in the recruitment anyway.
Credit will go to Smith when these players become polished first graders.
O'Sullivan oversees all scouting of junior talent signed to the Roosters development system. He has people like Jamie Mathiou working for him. Mathiou is his main QLD scout. I'm not sure whether that means Mathiou's job is to travel around QLD watching prospects that O'Sullivan gets word of or if he simply attends junior carnivals and reports back to O'Sullivan. Essentially POS is looking for 14-18 year olds to sign up. Therefore his best finds will be appearing around first grade now. He scouted guys like Mose, Cordner (pretty sure), Leilua and Guerra. The reason he is finally getting noticed is because his initial young finds are now on the brink of first grade. Guys like , Wells, Tago, Alofa, Dumbrell and Rona.
Thanks Yak well said.
To me Tasi & JWH were scouted by Manly. Leilua was a Dragons NYC player like Linnett so I think they dont count.
I asked who has he scouted that has stepped up Mose Cordner Guerra. Thanks you answered the question.
Guys like Wells, Tago, Alofa, Dumbrell and Rona. Will be interesting to see these guys hopefully develop into good FG players
The Pearce haters sharpening their daggers over point 5 no doubt.
I have never been a Pearce 'Hater' and seldom being critical of him however anyone here has the right to have an opinion especially when there was so much promised. Perhaps not from him but back then he was touted as perhaps the next best half back going around. Unfortunately it hasn't happened but here is hoping he has the best year to date.
