Geesus the seletive memory here is amazing. Not too bad last year? Mini let in more tries literally leaping out of the way of opposition players running at him than any other fullback in the comp. I cannot remember him ever stopping a try last year through his defence? And that is crucial in the fullback role. Also I can't remember him bouncing off players returning the ball like he used too.

He's busted physically. He's obviously scared to put his body on the line to stop a try or bust through a tackle, which I can't blame him for as neck injuries are inherently difficult to get over and have confidence in. And if you blokes think that opposition coaches and players are not going to take advantage of that you are kidding yourselves. Mini may be fit and ripped, but that means nothing if you won't put that to use on the field.

    Chook.

Last year he went ok, everyone was just bagging the guy because it became the thing to do.

I understand the Braith hate, I understood the Finch hate back in the day but not Mini, lay off the guy he doens't deserve that.

      Are you kidding ox?

The guy has occupied serious cap space for over 6 years and provided either nothing or a shadow of his best.
The love in died with me around 3 years ago.

To say that he is a club legend.........
      Emphatically no.

      Beetson, horrie, Fittler.
      Yep.

Miniciello might be a loyal club man..........but who wouldn't be when you've earned a couple of million and performed to a fraction of the value.
Economically speaking, he has been our own GFC.
      barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

Errr....220 odd first grade games, a premiership, 4 or 5 grand finals, however many games for NSW and Australia...if that's not a club legend, what is?

And would have done a whole lot more if not for injuries. Being injured doesn't make the guy a cap thief. Thats just unfortunate. He doesn't deserve criticism for that.

I agree he is not what he used to be but in saying that he still performs well enough to warrant he's selection each week u guys have short memories

When talking of custodians with heart, I'm sorry but I always go straight to Luke Phillips. Not the greatest or most creative, but after the 2002 Grand Final and his fractured shoulder heroics, he's above Mini in my list of great Rooster fullbacks.

People have to remember the extent of his injuries, he was basically still recovering last year, if knee reconstructions take 12 - 18 months to completely recover from, how long do we think it takes a player of even Mini's ability to recover from his neck injuries?? He had to re-learn how to run FFS! Don't forget he also broke an ankle & still managed to cross the line to score, with a broken ankle people!!! That is legend stuff of the status of Sattler playing on with a broken jaw! Mini is definitely a true club legend, he's had an unusual pre-season this year, but one that has been perfect for his 31 yo body, he'll be fresh & I believe he will have his best season since he was in his youthful prime & if Dugan & Stewart are unavailable again he will wear the No.1 Blues jersey again!

Sorry big arty, at Mini's age you just do not recover from those injuries.

You can add to the criticism that he's lost 5 yards of pace and was outrun by Jake Friend, BJ, a linesman and the mascot in the last game against Melb!

Go back and watch his defence from last year, it was pitifull even gutless at times. He's past it and as such needs to be let go.

                      Chook.

No one is disputing that Mini has been a great player for this club and deserves a hell of a lot of recognition for what he's achieved.

But it's been a two way street, the Roosters have stood by the bloke when many would have simply cut him off.

But he will be in danger of outstaying his welcome, if he continues with the Club beyond 2012. Just one of many players who have played in the NRL a year or two too long.

Fullback is ideally a young man's position nowdays. There is no getting away from that. The only real exception to that is Billy Slater who is a freak, which Mini, God love him, is not. That's why I'm not sold on buying Michael Gordon at the age of what 27/28.

What I don't understand is how the Roosters had no problem with telling Fitzy to move on when they felt his time had come, but seem to be having great difficulty doing the same to the likes of Mini and Braith.

So0me of the cooments made in Miniciellos direction on here are a disgrace to a club legend. He is far more worthy of playing on at this club than those who bag him are of supporting this club. Some people on here should hang their hedads in shame

This clubs needs no enemies with supporters like some of ours

I think one of the main reasons people are so critical of Mini is the perception that a successful team must have a superstar fullback. He did his job last year. He is still very reliable under the high ball and his positional play is strong. Yes he is lacking defensively at times as well as in speed and attack but I don't think he is a liability as some have suggested.
