  • Rads and Marschke charged (grade, 1 week)... whaddo we do?

I didn't see it but obviously the match review peeps reckon there's enough in it for a grade 1 charge.

    What should we do?
    - Take the 1 week ban on the basis that the Drizz will probably roll us anyway.
    - Risk the 2 week suspension and challenge it coz there's nothing to lose anyway.

After the game, Cronk suggested there was nothing in it. I dunno the definition of a crusher tackle and haven't analysed a replay so have NFI. Leaning towards saying there's enough doubt to have a crack at it.

That said, I think the ANZAC test will be more important than next week so there's value in taking the more conservative approach.

What a shit attitude. I’m glad The Roosters don’t think like this.

Watching it live there didn’t seem to be much in it. I am happy for a replay to prove me wrong but looked like the Cronulla winger put himself in the position, Ben didn’t drop his weight onto the neck which is the key movement in a crusher.

Players just have to grab their necks these days and they get a penalty.. I don’t think these crusher tackles are as big of a deal as the game are making out. The tough stance on these crusher tackles was brought in to stop the tackle where players were picked up and dropped with the defenders weight falling directly on their neck. That seems to have been rubbed out of the game now and we’re just nit-picking silly penalties now where any pressure on the neck is a penalty. It’s turning into a farce.

That's the problem. No common sense involved. Not only do they get a penalty every time they rub their neck but the tackler gets suspended more often than not. It's a rule that suits the clubs that live off milking penalties.

Fight the charge and win. Not even a penalty.

Dead right. I would go so far as to say players are being coached to milk these penalties.

Radley didn’t get charged according to NRL.com which is a relief. If I had to guess, he’d be starting at hooker with Deakin as the bench hooker to give Rads a spell. Butcher would then start at lock.

Utilise the rotating dummy half with no designated dummy half -closest player to the tackled player is the dummy half- It happens during the game as the dummy half is not always there to play that role.

Get what you're saying and I agree... you put in 100% every week and play to win.

However, I think next week's gonna be tough. I hope I'm wrong.

Ban players backing into tackles might solve half the issue
