Forwards - Forwards under the new rules need to be fitter, faster, more agile and play longer minutes- teams would have 6 forwards on the field - rotating the dummy half gives the opportunities for your quicker players to jump into Dummy half and have a run too.Originally posted by Thirteen View Post
And who defends in the middle?
No. Just no.
The bench will change as instead of having a second Dummy half teams could have 4 forwards or 3 forwards and 1 back.
Dummy halves could be converted to a running forward role such as a lock position.
It's another one of my ideas along with halves defending on the wing instead of 3 in - you don't want your halves racking up the tackles or being targetted in defence - you want them fresh for the attack.

6 forwards on the field - no need for a second dummy half on the bench - bench could be 4 forwards or 3 forwards and 1 back - rotating dummy half then gives the faster players a chance to jump into the dummy half role and have a run- especially under the new rules when the defence is struggling and fatigued.Originally posted by top_joe View Post
I am keen on seeing that (but maybe against Dogs, not Storm), what would you use the extra player for?
Dummy halves converted to a running forward role such as a lock instead of this being a 3rd prop type of role.

There needs to be much clearer guidance on what the NRL expects players to do when an attacking player backs into a fast moving defence while staying low to the ground. Peel off immediately and let the guy get an offload away? As things currently stand, you can easily snare a penalty for your team and a suspension for your opponent by doing this and then holding the back of your neck. It's a joke. Meanwhile the Storm invent a new way of deliberately maiming their opponents every week.Originally posted by Lydon View PostHopefully sanity prevails

Maybe if Vlandys wants to pick up the pace but reduce the injuries he extends the bench to 6 players . Then you could go for 4 forwards and 2 backs. Maybe also push interchanges back up to 12.Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

Not saying I like it. In theory I prefer seeing the big boppers tire out, but if it reduces injuries, then maybe it's worth it.

You do realise everything you have said there has been done before in the NRL at some stage.Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

Can you post video's of these/match reports as i don't recall these happening myself - I remember the one marker which i think was Ricko's idea when Chris Anderson was coaching and sometimes Wing defending on the Wing -some said though he there because he was being subbed at the next break in play.Originally posted by Headless Chook View Post
