I said it in another thread, people were down on Hutch because they were expecting him to do things he wasn't capable of. He's not fast, he's not flashy, hes not going to kick 40/20's or chip and regather, but he will do what the team needs and his team mates know they can depend upon him.
So many people were saying 2 weeks ago Hutch was no good and put untried Joey Manu at 6. Eating their words now. He’s been a big help for Walker and is an experienced half just doing his job. That’s what Walker needs to help himself shine. I’d keep Hutch at 6 even when Lam is ready to return because he complements Walker. Hutch was great in D last night. He’s got a few strings to his bow. Good on him. He’s silenced the doubters.
Definitely has the Mr fixit role, a bit like aubo was. Wouldn't be surprised to see him a hooker given our current injury list...problem is when lams fit, lams defence and involvement is so much weaker than hutches....the manu to5/8 may still be a good option and icky or sualli to centre..
I was critical of Hutchinson over the past few weeks and he made me eat my words, hats off to him.
I think some of you're right. Once we be more realistic about his capabilities, our expectations of him change and we see his actions in a more positive manner. That said, as our beloved roosters, we expect every player to destroy it haha. We demand excellence as we have been spoilt by success over the past 10-15 years.
