  • Ronald Volkman- NSW CUP

I can't read the article only the heading as i don't have a subscription but Apparently from this Ronald Volkman has been promoted to North Sydney NSW Cup - Withdrawn from Today's Jersey Flegg match vs Sharks -10-20 loss

Can anyone post the full Article

Walker not only rookie Roosters’ half to win big promotion

Sam Walker’s NRL debut has been fast-tracked due to an injury crisis at the Roosters, but he’s not the only star young half at the club to receive a big promotion.

How about trying this guy at hooker ! I think he is destined to be a hooker being short and fast with a great step and kicking game

He’s only played two Jersey Flegg matches, but Sydney Roosters halfback Ronald Volkmancould be fast-tracked into Knock On Effect NSW Cup in a matter of days.

The club’s injury crisis has already seen rookie Sam Walker elevated to first grade while NRL stars Lachlan Lam and Luke Keary battle knee injuries.

But the Bears’ No.7 jersey now needs filling, and Volkman could be the right man for the job.

“It’s highly likely, it just depends what Trent (Robinson) feels. He’s training with the NRL side at the moment, so if he feels that he’s training alright and he can stimulate the game... then that’s how it’ll be,” Chooks Flegg coach Tony Barnes said.

“He scored a good try on the weekend … he made about four side steps, three pirouettes and ended up going through to score under the posts.

“He’s got some good footy in him, he’s going to be a good footballer.”
Volkman is currently named to play Flegg against Cronulla on Friday, but Barnes expects a few of his troops will push up into reserve grade and NRL squads to cover injuries.

The transition will be challenging — largely due to the lack of footy the age group played last year — but Barnes said that all clubs are in the same boat.

“A lot of these kids have been out for a year, because we didn’t play last year, so (Volkman) hasn’t played any 20s football, we’ve only played two games,” Barnes said.

“We’ve got a few injuries in the top grade, so there’ll be few playing for Norths. It’s the same for Cronulla too, they’ll be missing a couple, but that’s what happens,” Barnes said

Hope they sign the Volkster long term though as he has come through the Junior ranks and can play both half and 5/8 - Matts/SG Ball/Jersey flegg and now by the looks of it promoted to NSW Cup and training with the NRL side so he must be highly thought of by those who need to be at the club.

Keary even though signed till 2024 will be 30 next year and coming back from an ACL and is also in the same boat as such as Cords and Friend with concussions having had 5 or 6 serious ones over a 18 month or so period.

Be interested to see how Tyler Moriarty goes in SG Ball (named on the bench- second dummy half) as he was the player of the Laurie Daley cup Under 18 comp which the Central Coast Roosters won recently - Looks a good prospect to me as a few others were too in that side and the Central Coast Roosters Andrew Johns under 16's side too which also won their comp - both undefeated

I'm on the Volk's-wagon. He's fast, strong and skillful and reminds me a lot of a young Craig Wing. Future star.

I think they are getting Volkman ready to take Lams spot.

I reckon Lam's off to Wigan too.

FMD talk about a knee-jerk presumtion.

Volkster has carved up attack wise, but we should have learnt by now that youth comp form like that doesnt mean jack in First Grade. Jayden Nikorima was quite similar, so cracking the champagne bottles is very premature.

On another note, Lam really deserves a longer crack to show what he has got and i'm pretty sure Robbo will give it to him.

The problem with Lam is that he can’t swing 2 or 3 games together without getting injured. Some people just can’t handle the riggers of rugby league.

                            Lets all jump off bankwagons.
The up and coming hooker to watch is Tom Deakin in Ball.
The smokey in the havles is Coby Thomas

Is it off bandwagons or on bandwagons?

I'm keen to watch Josh Ralph and Volkman in the halves for the Bears now that Walker has stepped up.
