The team that has to defend 6 agains are not getting even a slight relief for the body to even rest momentarily and recharge. Also with exhaustion errors occur mentally and that can lead to more injuries when players stretch or reach the wrong way, Hamstrings , ACLs. Not to mention being able to make better choices when tackling to avoid injuring other players with high tackles. It’s a mad scramble without thought or technique coming into play because of exhaustion. Like you said though.Things won’t probably change because Vlandys wants a fast entertaining game no matter what the cost to player welfare.
Totally agree with your summation, Roosterchick, well put.

I heard somewhere that the Roosters were down twelve players at the end.

Anyone else notice Volkman training in the halves with the first team on Nine news?

Also Whats this obsession with making the game faster? When did fast equate to exciting footy for the fans????

Team Tips: Roosters coach Trent Robinson told media on Monday he only has 19 fit players available at the moment. The devastating knee injury to Luke Keary opens the door for teenage talent Sam Walker to make his NRL debut in the halves. And with five-eighth Lachlan Lam also out injured, Drew Hutchison will partner Walker in a brand new halves pairing. Star middle forward Victor Radley finally returns from injury which will be a welcome boost for a side coming to grips with a horror injury toll. If Lindsay Collins isn’t fit in time then Jared Waerea-Hargreaves can start at prop, or alternatively Isaac Liu moves to prop and Radley comes straight in at lock. The casualty ward also opens the door for 17-year-old Joseph Suaalii to debut, which would be off the bench. Suaalii has been granted an exemption by the NRL to play despite the age limit being 18.
We have to seriously look at medically retiring Friend and Cords.
We cant win if our squad is smashed all the time.

We have this season to limp through and plan next year.

I'd be looking at a goal kicker, hooker and lock.

Radley goes ok at 13 ,...surely looking for a lock was a typo

Not that I expect him to play anytime soon but it was good to see Friendy back training with the boys today.

It's got everything to do with the increased speed of the game. Even with Concussions, why is that except? Players get exhausted, fatigued and as a result get careless and put their heads in the wrong position when tackling etc. Fatique creates mistakes and more accidents and injuries..

The V-man doesn't give two hoots about player safety, all these idiots are concerned with is the $$$$$$$

The irony is if it keeps going, too many players will be injured and the game will suffer for it as a spectacle.

I have been saying this for a while! Cords and Friend are liabilities. They both need to go.

I've never seen an injury toll like the one we've endured these past 12+ months. Basically since Billy Smith tore his ACL in the 2020 preseason it's been one disaster after another.
I have....season 2002 before Rd 5 Knights game when we hardly could field a decent team. Many one game only type players were required, some names not heard of before like luke Milton, Sam Obst, Kylie Leuluia, Albert Talipeau, Mark Leafa, George Azzi and Michael Korkidas.

So let's not pretent this is the worse crisis ever or even we are the club with the worst injury toll.

Exactly. By the time we get to the playoffs who knows what teams will look like or what stars will be missing.

Also games are more blow-outs and even the final top 8 is predictable.

3 Rounds gone but can anyone see another team making it other than these 9 (Panthers, Souths, Storm, Raiders, Eels, Titans, Knights, Roosters or Warriors).

Last yr i predicted Top 8 after rd 9. Who's gonna watch after 1st half of season..Too predictable now.

Volkman to be promoted to bears next game? (This weekend they have a bye) to partner Josh Ralph? Wonder if either will get exemptions to join roosters reserves as a back up half

And I do recall they were not embarrassed - apart from Azzi anyway.
