  • Storm have invented yet another tackle that needs to be banned

We have already discussed the variation of the Head Slam that drives players backwards, and then intentionally downwards all the way to the ground. It is what concussed Matto last week. It also concussed Cordner twice last year, and SST the year before. If it wasn't for Kaufusi being a more overt grub and using his elbow, the Storm would have once again been rewarded for the action with possession and Eels a player down.

Last night I noticed Eisenhuth had his ribs injured in a similar way to Keary last year. A variation of the Prowler tackle where two defenders hold up the attacker, and a third player drives the shoulder into the rib cage.

Both tackles could easily be banned without any significant changes to the way the game is played. I am sure the NRL will eventually react after a player is much more seriously injured.

Correction: it was Panthers that made the tackle not the Storm. Kind of the same point apart from Storm blaming. It is a variation of the Prowler tackle with intention of injuring.

The awful tackle on the panfers' Spencer Leniu (payback for fracturing the ribs of the drizzle's Eisenhuth?) by three drizzle players including munster is also worth mentioning. The drizzle are grubs.

Was that before or after he cannoned into the Melbourne player's ribs?

I was surprised the Panthers player was not put on report for that late hit. I didn't know that panthers player was paid back. I'll check it out.
I was happy to see Luia get run over by the Sofa and I was hoping that would cure his dickhead attitude. Maybe Collins can take care of that.
That Olam might be on thin ice with Bellamy. He's been making bad mistakes in all 3 matches this year but last nights play was the creme de la creme.

Watched the video. Got my wires crossed. You are right. It was Eisenhuth and it was Panthers that made the tackle not the Storm.

interesting thoughts. i'm with you on the head slams but this one is trickier. if the ref hasn't called held it's cos the tackle isn't complete and the player hasn't stopped moving and (conceivably) could break free. think it's probably in the too hard basket to outlaw those sorts of tackles.

It would be easy to fix. Similar to the existing rule for third man in not being able to cannon into legs.

I thought that was such a low act, Cannon balling into a defenceless player with no other intention but to cause injury. Unnecessary contact.

The usual disgusting crap from the Storm. I hate seeing players deliberately injure others. Totally unnecessary.

So youve got all wound up at Melbourne about the Kaufusi incident then youve seen the Prowler on Eisenhuth (Melbourne player) thinking Melbourne are at it again & become so irrate at Melbourne you start a hate thread against them & then realized that Eiseenhuth was the victum. Hilarious.

What a top game that was last night & the Panthers are the team to beat. If Cameron Smith played last night Melbourne would have won. I dont think Melbourne will make the top 4.

                        Yep

That was low. I was expecting and waiting for Storm to do something just as low as payback and Munster didn't make me wait long.

I usually hate those things but after what he did I could cop it.

No, my primary irritation is with the NRL being reactive rather than proactive. Storm are my secondary irritation because they are almost always the ones who start it.

And for the record it was the Storm who injured Keary last year with same tackle. So technically I was right :-p

So. Why weren't both tackles pulled up as prowlers? Seems to be an open and shut case.

Is it just me who feels JWH will be the one charged for all these offences where players weren’t charged???
He’ll sneeze and be sent off. I can sense an elbow charge in the making
