Seriously, this award has always been farcical, but the past two rounds have taken it to next level!
I don’t really follow it but have heard on talk back ....
I believe last week Teddie didn’t get a point or got 1? Set up three tries and scored three??? Seriously!
This week Luke Keary didn’t get a point despite being in everything, and with Teddie was head and shoulders above most on the field , yet Dane Lawrie got a point in a team beaten by 40.
And just to take the rooster bias out of it... Papenhausen ( who played well) got points against the Eels yet Guthrie didn’t get one who arguably got the eels home!!!
    Seriously... the awards are pathetic!!!

Really Terrible stuff ...Keary was easily MOM for my money and was worthy of 2 last week as well .

According to the NRL Anthony Milford, Benji Marshall, Brian To'o, Ash Taylor, Jack Bird, Jordan Rapana, Daine Laurie, Daniel Alvaro, Matt Moylan, David Klemmer, Kodi Nikorima, William Kennedy, and Hudson Young have all been better than Luke Keary this year.

The system is already broken and when you have guys like Sam Thaiday, who in his mid-30s still relies on toilet humour to be funny, voting each week it is only made worse.

Andrew Voss is giving it a roasting this morning on his show on SEN... they have discussed changing the points system so wouldn't be surprised if V'Landys jumps on board.

There should be 3 judges at each game. When there’s only one bias creeps in. The Dally Ms should be a prestigious award not a joke.

My comments were posted in the game day thread. Go back to RLW voting system is best and fairest way. Every player gets a score out of 10 for every game they play .

Leave it to the refs like it used to be or we will get Wighton winning it again by doing farlall all year trhen has a go with 2 rounds to go.

Yeah I get the argument of 'he played really really well, just they lost'.

But seriously... the tradition is that the winners take all and the losers get nothing (like in battles of old, the winner writes the history and the brave hero who went down with his burning castle well eeerm, ultimately failed to defend the said castle). It frustrates me that every time they depart from this tradition, it seems to be when we've either won a game of footy by a significant margin or we've just created history with a premiership.

Meh - I guess it's why such points are a joke though. They totally reflect the bias of bitter individuals. To me the awarding of such points demonstrates that people wanted the opposition to win and put a halo on somebody who tried hard, but failed to make an impact. Honestly, I love to back that guy because it's usually me in sports. But like... I've learned the hard lesson that trying harder than everybody else doesn't make you better than the other team that just pulled your pants down. They might get a 'best effort' award when playing for the 16E's, but this is professional sport. It's harsh and points aren't given for effort!

This is just like my mixed netball where... [rah rah rah]

It's right up there with DCE and Wighton winning the Clive Churchill medal in a losing GF.
                      complete rort.

Not bad...only leaving Lindsay out cos he cost me $$ by generously gifting young Fletch a try when he could have crashed over himself.

Yep. This sorta stuff turns 'MotM' into the 'best effort' or 'hero of a cr@p team' award. It's almost as if we get punished for our success because there's so many good moments. To me such results reflect the viewer's bias against our obvious talent. They don't wanna pay it... to them we're just spoiled/entitled and don't earn our results. It's assumed we'll do it every time (not that we'll have to lift in order to ice results).

DCE - dominated the first 1/4 then slipped behind, despite his opposing half being Mitchell Pearce.

Wighton - the media wanted a 'they were robbed' story. However, Wighton had ~10 minutes after Latrell's try to cook something up. He didn't. He tried hard sure... but didn't (and couldn't). Zero credit to us for keeping this amazing player at bay!

Tigpies - Robbo said it himself... it wasn't EASY and the scores were actually very close at 1/2 time. We stepped up and iced in the 50th-60th minute rather than the 70th-80th minute. No matter how hard they tried, icing that result (i.e. keeping them scoreless in the 2nd half rather than allowing a couple of quick, early tries in) was a massive achievement that deserves to be rewarded. Instead, it's just assumed knowledge that the Tigpies were not capable of breaking us.

Further, the Tigpies coach went on a rant about how our plan is 'very simple... all they do is play the ball on the right to create an overlap and then quickly shift it to the left'. He was respectful enough but (ignoring the fact most of our tries were scored on the right), I thought it was pretty lame. We got done 60-8 and Robbo didn't respond with that kinda shyte (although the media responded with 'THEY CANNOT COME BACK FROM HERE!!! NO TEAM HAS EVER [blah blah blah blah]).

What makes me sorta happy is that the media's playing down our skill, acting as if it's just our 'sombrero' (when Lussick, Baker, Fifita, Hutcho... etc would all be on minimum wage), while reminding us about our 60-8 loss. There's DEFINITELY unfinished business and I look forward to seeing the skills that Robbo's taught our squad (forget the sombrero - we only signed Suaalii this year and he's not even playing 1st grade so it's the same guys we had available last year + spent time developing whereas Souffs have gone and bought a heap of new rep-grade forwards & backs).
