I hope the Roosters walk away & finance their own Canterbury Cup team they can afford it.
Id liked to see the Roosters have a shot at winning both comps in the same year.

I think the bears and central Coast need to stay in there lane swallow the fact that they will never be in the NRL!
i think Roosters should make relationships with as many third-party Clubs! The Roosters footprint spans over 5 junior clubs? We need to expand to compete with the rest of the NRL team's that have MASSIVE FOOTPRINTs resulting in fan base/ memberships $$$$ etc (storm)(broncos) etc

i think without relationships in business, you have NO business and i think Uncle Nick is on the right path evenening out the playing field with lack of support from the NRL !!!!!

i really hope we keep the Fiji team , Central Coast and North Sydney Bears but dont stop there ! More the merrier

It was good winding up the riff raff on LU when all three grades made the grand final in 2004.

Not so good the butterfingered idiots that robbed Freddy of a Clive Churchill Medal.

Would have to be a 20 team comp for the Bears to even be considered - NRL want a second Brisbane team and strangely a second team in Rugby obsessed NZ. - 3 bids for the second Brisbane or 4th Queensland team- so the 2 that miss out will be in the mix if more teams may be added - Perth not sure about - time zone and AFL entrenched with the Eagles and Dockers same as Adelaide with the Crows and Port

But to summarise, Bear's had their AGM meeting the other night and their bitter members voted out their chairman who had been doing some really good things, including networking for most of their major sponsors through his own connections - this had lead to bears legend Billy Moore and James Bracey (channel 9) stepping away out of protest - two others with good connections.

The bears fans (mostly by proxy vote) voted in one of their fanatics/long term fans to the board who used many of these proxy votes to vote the chairman out.

I follow their 'chook pen' like group on facebook and their fans/members are mostly unrealistic very bitter fans who want to be in the NRL immediately and blame their board despite the fact they are doing the best with what they can do - the NRL don't want them back.

From reading the forum and what was said at the AGM - a lot of bears fans (who are also souths fans it seems) hate the roosters and are totally ungrateful for our partnership with them. Many (not all) hate being feeder club to us and for some reason see the partnership in NSW Cup as a move of politis trying to take over the bears which there is no truth to - it was just a good arrangement for both clubs. I read even at the AGM Jason Taylor was forced to defend himself and Trent Robinson about our relationship with the bears. The stupid thing there is little to none gratitude towards our players playing their, giving them a profile (eg Suaalii) and giving them a shot of winning something (for once).

From what this means for our future with them I think is quite questionable - I read in the group the Roosters are quite rightly asking questions. The sad thing for the bears is that their bitter fanatic fans will kill their own club their love (for good) for without NSW Cup and being a feeder club they will be downgraded to Ron Massey Cup or lower, no sponsors, no money, no future.

For us this may mean we need to link with another club or finally enter our own reserve grade side once again - only time will tell but interesting times for that aspect of our club.

My allegiances are 100% behind the Roosters, I grew up a Rooster not a Bear (Bear's were kicked out when I was little). I just grew and currently live on the North Shore, and have family history with the bears so am a fan of them too and I thought the arrangement was a dream to have these two teams together. I of course want pride in RL in my area, and I thought we were on good thing but bitter fans don't allow progress.

Perhaps after all this will be an opportunity for the Roosters to acquire this area depending on their long term future - and the Roosters could have an area all of a sudden from the East, through the whole North Shore to the Central Coast - ironically which was the Bear's dream. We'd need to get in before Manly.

For now I think business is per usual but don't be surprised about any announcement about a change to our feeder season coming sometime this year. I hope they can work things out but doesn't look great - as much as I also love the Bears, their end of this partnership doesn't seem very reliable at the moment.
Time to get the Jets back into the fold!

The Cremorne / Rose Bay Roosters? Bunch of latte sippers (like me... so suits me just fine).

They should be kissing our arses cause we chose to align with them. If they are not happy they can piss right off and float into the wilderness. Suddenly I don’t feel so bad that Manly chewed them up and spit them out.

looks like some fans are trying to hijack the joint. we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that it's a good partnership for us. better for our players to cross just the harbour bridge than the mooney mooney bridge as well

Still have a sentimental regard for the Bears since they figured in so many "Match of the Round" games back when I was a kid. At the time, too, the Catholic Weekly dubbed them "the most Catholic club" in the comp. I've long since ditched the religious BS but still appreciate the memories of Kenny Irvine, Brian Carlson, Bobby Heffernan the Cuneos etc.

The sad thing is that "progress" literally destroyed Norths. The network of roads, built in the late 50s, that snake from the bridge all the way to Willoughby replaced square miles of terrace houses which, for years had sheltered the local working class and which gave the whole area a class identity not to mention an ambience far superior to that of Paddo or Balmain - harbour views back and sides. The freeways stole the tribal mental picture that one gets when imagining the tangible community and territory that a team represents. Where was Jesus in all of that, whose side is he on and what reward for being the most Catholic club in the comp?

Correction. I meant Greg Hawick not B. Heffernan who, indeed, was a Easts second rower who played in the 1960 GF against St. George (Heffernan that is). The legendary "Bluey" Wilson was also part of the Bears' squad back then.

I am sorry to learn of this NorthChook. For me, North Sydney is the closest thing to a second team as you can get. Especially too as I reside on the north side. I did not realise a lot of their supporters like or follow the Rabble. Not a palatable thought at all unfortunately.

Hopefully something can be sorted out. I always saw the North Shore region - particularly the Upper North Shore - as a junior area expansion option for us, but the Central Coast needs to remain a priority, regardless of what transpires with this. Otherwise, going back to Newtown would be particularly good too.
                              MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

Their Facebook post suggests that they are currently reviewing the actions from Wednesday and that Perry/Dickson remain in charge.

Sounds like it mighta been a random ambush (i.e. numbers on the day via proxies but not a majority vote or an expected vote) rather than a valid coup (i.e. majority with everybody informed beforehand and encouraged to vote). Major sponsors + members seem set to walk out and leave Ros Dare by himself. My gut feeling is that they'll have another vote (rather than an ambush with proxies...etc) and Ros Dare will be banned from the club for his actions. Just my gut feeling.
