  • It’s probably one factor that was overlooked..

But it’s highly unlikely that Flanagan gets cut from the roosters squad without the approval of Cooper Cronk.

The guy knows more about the half back role than anyone in the business and I can’t help but think that his time at the storm under Bellamy taught him about what is needed for long term success.

If you haven’t listened to the Howie games podcast with Bellamy I highly recommend you check it out.........for a guy so successful we hardly know anything about him.
The storm have a policy with recruitment that they don’t employ selfish players.
They have a criteria for the way players play the game on the field. Off the field they also have a type of individual and personality type that they like to recruit.

I’m thinking there was behaviours outside of just playing that weren’t deemed attractive to future success.
Not saying that Trent doesn’t know this, but Cooper would see it a mile away in the pivotal organising position.
    barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

I think it's become plainlyu obvious that Kyle, like his dad, is a whiny little bitch. One thing Robbo doesn't do is make excuses, he makes sure that he and the team own the losses, Flanagan seems to like to play the 'poor me' card too much indicating he might lack the mental toughness we we like in our players

So True..it was obvious if Lam didnt get injured then Flanagan would not of played again.
I am one of those if the coach gives a young bloke a run i will support it but I was getting Finch like feelings for Flanafail second half of season...but Trewhella warned us what to expect.
Cronk does not pull punches and always gets to the point..you can see that when he played .
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

I don’t see him as a total failure. Just a by-product if the mid season rule change and Radley’s injury.
I’d also say Manu and Morris might’ve had more to say regarding his style of play and Kyles failure to unlock those playing outside of him.
        ..it’ll be interesting to see

However, I doubt we would have signed him in the first place without Cronks blessing. So...

          We just got it wrong.

You could out sprint Flanno mate. There’s no place in the modern game for slow halfbacks.

              Fair suggestion.

I'm sure at some stage Robbo would have sought Cronk's counsel on the issue.

Interestingly, Flanagan lasted a fraction of the time of Hastings at the club - who himself is the epitome of an divisive, self obsessed naval gazing young half.

Whatever went on last season, im sure there are untold stories which I suspect wouldnt paint Flanno junior in a great light.

                I agree with this..

I watched him a few times in First Grade for the Sharks and noticed a slow runner of the ball with no attacking game..

When we signed him I assumed he must’ve been signed for his smarts and organising ability, as his running game was non existent..

I guess now he is the Bulldogs problem, we have much better options coming through!

Well, I still have that deceptive change of pace. From slow to a walk.

Who do you reckon would win a sprint between Flan and the Hutch?

                    No doubt about that.

I was under the assumption we only signed Flanno to get Xerri once that was no longer an option he was expendable.

I wouldn’t have the time to watch it. Napa would beat them both.

I think our recruitment strategy is a bit more sophisticated than that....God I hope so.
