  • NRL Physio Update on Radley and Verrills

Noticed the NRL Physio had a couple of updates today on Radley and Verrills and their recovery from ACL surgery sounds like the Roosters medical staff are likely going to be cautious and might not see either of them until round 4.

The Physio must have been inhaling the smelling salts - first tweet round 1 then updated tweet possibly round 4

As expected Round 1 is looking like the return date for Victor Radley. Likely similar for Sam Verrills. Would be 8 months & 2 weeks since they underwent ACL reconstructions. NRL average return to play over the last 10 years from ACL reconstruction surgery: 7 months & 3 weeks

Update: in a previous interview Radley indicated the Roosters medical staff would by quite staunch with a 9 month return to play time (Rd4), though he would be pushing to return earlier. There is evidence risk of reinjury decreases by 50% between an 8-9 month return

It’s better to be safe than sorry with ACL’s. The last thing we need is a re-injury for Radley especially. We missed him a lot last year.

Glad to hear that the Roosters are going to err on the side of caution with Victor and Sam. If that statistic of a 50% reduction in the last month is true, then it's a no-brainer to wait for nine months.

Gonna be a tough start without them and cords, plus a new halves combo, would be happy to split any matches without them 3-2 would be a very hopeful first 5 games.

Yes, they need to hold of in returning as long as possible. We cannot afford to take a risk at this stage. No way.
            MRR or Rabid

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
