Might be other way around although there are no stats showing Tedesco has kicked at all even in Juniors - Time will tell - 2 trials coming up and both will play at least one of these. SST is 38/54 - 70.4%

SST's career goal kicking average is 75%. (Latrell's is 62.5%)

SST averaged 55.8 min each game last year ... that's basically 70% of the game. He also played 80 min 3 times.

He'll do me as first choice kicker if that's the way Robbo goes.

On Fitzy's podcast he says that he can no longer kick goals because in his last game or something he broke his foot/toe so if he try's a goal kick it kills him with pain.
JT does the goal kicking coaching.

I trust that JT and Fitzy will make the right decision with who is going to be first choice kicker.

            How is his foot injury?

For us to go into a competition year without a proven over 80% goalkicker shows a lack of planning which is unacceptable at this level. I hope the club have this covered. TKO is good but off the field half the time and has a huge workload, so someone needs to step up, and to still be unsure about who that will be lesss than 8 weeks before the comp starts is very disappointing.

I am still firmly of the opinion that getting rid of Kyle Flanagan was a huge mistake. He was not responsible for the Roosters failure last year. Injuries and the rift caused by the return of Sonny Bill, who took the place of a player who had worked his arse off to get to first grade (whomsoever it was) caused a split.

The Roosters do not have a front line goal kicker and if pushed I can find a large amount of games they lost by 1 or two points through not having a 80% goal kicker.

Certainly i agree with you. Especially now that Walker seems to need a lot more development, and no goalkicker. We had Flanno for this year, and he was bloody good. Stupid to kick him out, especially when we supposedly have a coaching guru, why the hell couldn't he coach him.

Do you realize there are only 4 or 5 guys in the NRL who kick above 80%? It's not like every team will have a 80%+ kicker except us. There are a number of 1st choice kickers in teams that are below 70%. SST averages 75%. That's good enough.

I agree. It's going to cost us.

I would suggest that those 4 or 5 you mention play for the top 5 teams, which we want to be one of. Missed goals cost games, which can cost home finals, which can cost comps. It is not acceptable for us as a top team to be in this position.

I believe that Tedesco was actually a very good goal kicker in his junior days ...

SST has a competitive % compared to most other teams kickers.

Im a bit goalkicking schmoalkicking. Not too concerned.

Close. Reynolds, Flanno, Smith, Croker & Moses. Cleary is just below 80%.

Also, I made a mistake when I quoted SST's career average at 75% ... that was just last year (3/4). Overall for the NRL (not counting Tonga) it's just over 70%, but for what it's worth, when he was used as our regular kicker in 2016, he kicked at 77.14%. His stats are down when he's been used part time.

Fully agree. It made no sense to dump Flanagan as he was the leading NRL point scorer. Injuries definitely killed us last season. I’ve little confidence we can make the top 4 without a good goal kicker even without injuries. I’m pretty sure missed goals accounted for our close losses.
