I'm in no way asking for sympathy as I've achieved much in my life despite this disability as I refused to let it beat me. However, it's not a hidden disability so I have become accustomed to being stared at and judged by people who only define me by my disability. As such I know from experience what it's like to belong to a minority group. There are things I simply can't do easily because the world is designed for people without disabilities. There are things I have to work hard at, which the majority (abled bodies) take for granted and can achieve without any effort whatsoever as the world is designed for abled bodies. It shapes my thinking on certain issues which is why I loathe racism and discrimination of any minority group.

I am not saying this to start a debate or argument and this should be, by my own statement above, in the off topic thread. But it's a direct response to you.

I have no political persuasion and am in fact by definition a swinging voter. I vote according to the issue and policy. On the subject of racism and discrimination and marginalised groups, yes I have very strong views. Based on my personal experience, not because I am a loony left thinker. My opiniona actually have nothing to do with politics and so I despise my opinion being labelled loony or whatever the latest nasty label is.

    Anyway opine over.
Thanks MR, appreciate your openness and honesty.

Yours is a good example of why people embrace certain values, and whats important and what isn't to us as individuals. Big respect to you.

I could talk about why I embrace conservative values now but it may be boring or private, or both.

Now lets fight the common enemy....Souths!

Well said MR a personal, thoughtful and salutary reminder, off topic or not, to those who are not part of any minority and have no thought about anyone but themselves and their own petty concerns mostly derived from Murdoch. There are those among us who insist on the principle of Free Speech, and in 08's case, presumably ready to die for it, but only when it is speech that they agree with.

Yes Jack. The thing is I also have an Economics degree and am quite conservative when it comes to financial management etc. So as I said a swinging voter and quite torn at times. Progressive on issues such as racism, equality and discrimination but a tight money manager!

And the thought of Souffs being a real contender this year is already making me feel ill.
