  • Brandon Smith from 2022.

    https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/01/04/...-post-cam-era/

Brandon Smith in turn has been granted permission to pursue a starting hooker role elsewhere for 2022, with the Kiwi Test rake wanting to play his preferred position after playing back-up to the Storm skipper for several seasons.

Jake's only got 1 good year before his body starts to decline imo, this bloke would be a perfect replacement.

    Chook.

Is B Smith a good dummy half, or just a very hard ball runner? Not sure I’m sold on him as a full time dummy half.

B Smith is good. But I've really liked what Sammy V has done in his short career to date. I'd rather develop him as our 1st choice 9 to take over from Jake.

I’m happy to hand the reins over to SV who played a major role in the Chooks winning the comp in 2019. I hope B Smith go’s to the Tigers.

Totally not needed as hooker. Verrills did so well in 2019, and I was not disappointed with Lussick when called upon . I think we’re well covered for hookers ( rakes/ dummy halves). B Smith could a good nuggety running lock , but we have Radley so no thanks.

Agree with OMR....the only apparent weakness is a gun goal kicker atm

100%. Second time this one has been trotted out I think.

Verrills would have signed believing he will be the long term number one hooker when Friend retires.

I doubt we would consider Smith.

We need to be loyal to Sam V and in return he will
hopefully be loyal to us. Different player to Smith but also very good.

Let rubbish clubs like Dogs or Tigers pay overs for Smith.

He went great at prop for Melbourne this year too when he got the chance.

Friend is now a one year contract at a time player - i would say no to Smith as they have Verrills and Lussick - They need to sign a centre and winger for 2022

Strange that Lussick is not listed in out top 30. So are you saying there is a chance?

Which Robbo doesn't seem all that fussed about?

His manager has already spoken to the chooks before Xmas, and was informed that the Roosters were not looking for another hooker.

So far so good for both parties. If Sam stays fit & the Chooks continue to be a top 4 side I think he will remain at the Roosters long term.
